Server Question

I just got back to the game about a month ago, and wanted to know if server maintenance always took this long and is always during peek play time? I came from WoW and Blizzard had the decency to take the servers down really early in the morning so it wouldn't affect most people. Why would SOE take the servers down so late? Does this happen regularly? I dunno, just kind of bothered me that they would do this and not even tell us when they expect them back up.

Live servers generally go down for maintenance early in the morning, at 7AM PST (if they go down at all that day). Most times the downtime is about 1 hour (sometimes 2) and rarely extended to most of the day for large, game-updates (which occur about once a month, roughly).Thus is for the US servers, mind you.

If they plan on taking down the servers for 12 hours like they did today, why wouldn't they take them down at around two in the morning? Then the servers would be back before prime time.. oh well, thats common sense, it is SOE we are talking about.

Are you sure it wasn't an issue on <i>your</i> side?

The servers were taken down today at 9AM CST and are still down, 12AMCST, its been 15 hours.

<p>Which server are you trying to get onto? And what message are you getting when you try to log in?</p><p>Im guessing that the problem is your end as there where no scheduled downtimes of this length and if there had been an unscheduled downtime, these forums would be full of posts regarding them.</p><p>I think that the Euro servers where due an update at 5am London time, but this was only scheduled for 2 hrs.</p>

To the best of my knowledge none of the servers were down yesterday for any substantial length of time. There might be an underlining issue that is preventing you from accessing the servers properly so I'm moving this to the "Technical Help and Questions" board for better assistance.
