Backdrop:

Water was spilled on my old AMD machine and fried it. I built a new one around an Intel e6850 CPU and 8800GTS 640MB card using XP Pro. The hard drive was saved from my old machine (WD 150GB Raptor). I copied EQ2 off of it using another machine to a backup hard drive so I could reload the Raptor from scratch in the new hardware. I created a whole partition specifically for EQ2 alone (partition size is 12GB and the drive letter is G: which will be relavent when looking at the error message). I then copied the game from the backup hard drive to the new partition after getting the new computer up and running. The game runs great! However:

Problem:

After launching the game and entering my password, I get 2 pop up errors (both the exact same thing) in succession two times in a row (meaning I click "OK" on one, it pops right back up again). After clicking "OK" the second time, I enter the game and play just fine. Here is the error:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/...adhtmlerror.jpg

Merely copying the files from one system to another may not be enough. The Windows registry has to be written to reflect the game installation. You might want to do an official install, stop the patcher while patching and then copy the files. Also, you might want to delete the following files and allow the patcher to download a fresh copy:cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.iniTo do this, please follow these directions: 1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the directory in the default directory:2. Click on MY COMPUTERCRIVEPROGRAM FILESSONYEVERQUEST II3. Next look for any files explained above and delete them. 4. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.Let me know how it works out.Thanks.

I got rid of the 3 .ini files and the everquest2.exe file. I left the cache alone (didn't really see how the in game cache would play into the launch of the game). That did the trick! The missing files made me do a mandatory re-download of some files and it repaired it for me Thank you very much!
