So my question is about how much of my zw DPS should be autoattack? Right now after 2-3 hours of dungeon crawling its about 35-37%. My normal group setup is guard, warlock, warden, dirge and 2 PU. My gear is t6 fabled/t7 mc-legendary. I'm a 66 guard and have noticed that every now and then when I've been chain pulling for a while I start losing my autoattacks to CAs and button mashing. I don't want to know what i should be parsing, but how much of that parse should typically be autoattack.

The % autoattack depends primarily on your gear. Because CAs (at M1) do a constant 600ish DPS regardless (they're all straight hits, we've got no short term autoattack buffs like zerkers), any Guard DPS numbers you hear quoted are roughly the autoattack + 600.

With high end gear e.g. Buckler/GBH DPS is around 2k, 65%ish autoattack. With low end gear (e.g. Ascendant) DPS is around 1k, 40% autoattack. With a high end 2H, and the Agi line, and a group encounter DPS is around 4k, 85% autoattack.

Timing CAs between swings is a bit of a myth perpetuated by people who think high parses are more down to their skill at button mashing than raid setup, gear and buffs. By all means you want to aim to get a weapon hasted to 0.9, 1.9, 2.9 or 3.9 seconds so you miss as few autoattacks as possible, but trying to time CAs with so many variables like haste procs / acceleration strike going on really has questionable benefit, particularly when you consider you're losing CA DPS by waiting to use them. So, in short, there's not much you can do about your autoattack DPS except for getting a better weapon and more crit%/dps mod/haste gear, or changing AA spec.

Good non-raid attainable items for upping autoattack DPS are mastercrafted rings (ridiculously good considering their availability), Underworld Legplates (best DPS item for a Guard bar none, but T5 raid so hard to get), League line rewards (2% crit earring and wrist), Dedicated Wrap (easy MMC quest, 2% crits), the Cloak of Flames HQ, +10 DPS mod adorns for Bow and Neck, 2 (bleh) haste adorn for belt, Ivy Shrouded earring (7 DPS mod). Also the legendary SoD reward will probably give you the single biggest DPS boost you can get outside a raid if you're currently using a weapon with 1.6 delay.

Since you don't have a good 2H weapon (there are only 3 in game really), the best AA spec for you would probably be Str448 Sta448 Agi485. Avoid the 4th and final tiers of the Warrior AA trees and the Wis line, they're a waste.

Thank you, then I'm about where I should be at for the gear I have. Raiding won't be an issue, well getting my guild started might, but it'll come along. I more or less just wanted to double check everything I've been doing and autoattack for guards was the only thing I haven't been able to find in the forums.

YOu won't actually miss out on much of your auto attacks at all if you only wait until the CA light up (meaning you have recovered from the last one) is all the time you need tostall in order for your auto attack to strike between your CA.

My rough number has been 50%. If I tweek something for whatever reason, I make sure that I'm still doing at least 50% auto attack damage.
