I haven't played this game in over a year. I've read up on most of the changes I've missed while away and they seem adaptable once I get back in.

I haven't played a Bard class on a PvP server yet. How's the Bard classes in general (PvP)? Troub or Dirge seem better at solo PvP? Which would be better for group PvP?

Some general pro/con situations would probably help me decide best.

I read that some recast timers have been changed for classes and see people saying it affects the class in PvE. Which Bard class would be best for PvE? Are either able to solo named PvE mobs well?

With all the twinkage on the PvP (I'm on Nagafen) servers, grouping's not the same as I remember it on PvE servers (when MC and Ad3 was considered a twink). Would Bard class still be in high demand for PvE groups?

Depends on group make-up.

G0r3 wrote:

Some general pro/con situations would probably help me decide best.

Troubs get (much) better control spells, Mez, stiffle and charm, versus the dirge's fear, root and daze. Neither bard is going to be wow-ing people with thier insane damage, infact most healers can out-DPS bards. Dirges are more melee focused, which can be bad when you're pretty much forced to kite melee classes. Troubs are more spell focused... spells work at any range.

G0r3 wrote:

I read that some recast timers have been changed for classes and see people saying it affects the class in PvE. I may have missed some, but I dont recall any of our skills being changed like that. Both bards are good for PvE, as usual though, Troubs will be rarer. Yes, both bards can solo named mobs... Troubs have it easier due to their ability to mez and regen though. It may take a long time but we can pretty much kill anything that can be mezzed.

G0r3 wrote:

Would Bard class still be in high demand for PvE groups?

Yes, but not as high as before. Alot of other classes have got new toys that do the same thing as some of our buffs and more DPS is almost always preferable to more utility.

Peronnaly I'd say Troub > dirge.

Bards are great in PvP from T2-T5, after that they become less special IMO.

dirges can kill all other scouts ssolo easy, and more fun than a troub, but a dirge needs more skill to kill them imo2 Snares (1 that lasts 1min)a Roota Feara Daze (bit useless i suppose)CheapshotProc Items like (and luck of the dirge increases proc chances by 25%) : Manacles of Darksky - 7sec stifle proc 5 Piece pvp set = 6sec (i think) Stifle proc 1.8 a min with lod i thinkStone of Nizara = 6sec or so fear proc 2.2 a min with lod i thinkBand of Unity = 11sec 70% snare proc pvp item, 2.2 a min with LoD i thinkDirges imo are scout killers, they are the ultimate kiters.. no one should get near u tbhif someone manages to get on top of you, cheapshot then fearIf someone's getting close Root themif they have a few debuffs on them, they aren't going to be able to cure snares so easily...that's it, i'm rerolling
