Greetings,I originally played EQ2 for a while between launch and just before the first expansion. I have not played sinceor read up to much on the game changes since then. I am debating coming back to EQ2. Was a old EQ1 vetplayed from beta up to about 6 1/2 years total.. then I've been in WoW for a while. Looking to get away fromWoW now and the new EQ2 Expansion w/Kunark really peaked my interest the content and playable SarnaksI always wanted a Sarnak player character since day 1 of Kunark in the first EQ. Vanguard I've been told to just stay away from due to bugs and a virtually non existant player base.Is there still a large active community in EQ2 supportive enough for new players to come in and since the levelcap has been increased since my original time have they done anything to help minimize the leveling curve tocatch up to current players? I'm deffinately not wanting to come back if folks still spend 2 hours+ trying to find a group for something..but if that isn't the case I think I"ll be giving it a whirl depending on what feedback is.Kind Regards

Just FYI i started playing eq2 again 2 weeks ago after about a year long break... and I could not be happier with the LFG options, i find groups sometimes immediately if not within the hour, starting my own is always an option, 'outdoor' (non-instanced) dungeons are never crowded, never more than 1 other group and I could not be happier, its expanded immensely since I left and honestly... a lot more fun because of it.Hope it helps :0)

It does..What server are you on? I read on some unofficialy forums Antonious Bayle has one of the larger communities that is active but of course it was a older post not sure on how accurate that is.
Antonia Bayle (which I think is the server you meant here) is still one of the larger, more active servers.

Good to know are there any decent guilds on there that are open to returning/new folks that're active? How is the leveling curve as well these days I'm really looking at getting to Kunark content to see the modern take on the old.
I dont think they have changed the lvling curve at all, but there is more solo content now. Honestly i never even pay much attention to lvling and just run around and have fun. First time I have ever done that in a MMo. Yah im really looking foward to Kunark myself. I love what they have done with Faydwer.

Getting to 50 is very easy now and can be done roughly in 25% of the time it required before. AB is the biggest population and has alot of guilds. For a new player that is probably the best server to start on.

They haven't so much changed the leveling curve in terms of xp require to level, but they have revamped many of the old zones and placed many new zones into the game making so that it's no longer such a pain in the [Removed for Content] to access and engage game content. The removal of excessive access quests, the class quests, and the citizenship quests helped alot. The newbie island are alot more newbie friendly and the two new starting areas in Greater Faydark and Neriak are even better. Your only options for t5 content isn't group grinding in EF or LS. In short, there are fewer roadbloacks in the content that you have to stop and clear before continuing onward. The game world is more accessible and actually feels larger and more alive because of it.

Actually the server population is usually in order of biggest server.Nagafen-PVPAntonia Bayle-RoleplayCrushbone- Standard

Although i would stay awya from starting a toon on PVP until you have a hang on the game. Getting ganked learning the game probably wouldn't be so much fun.

The levelling is way, way faster than it used to be. Almost too fast, but you can always lock.

As far as population goes... my main is on Naggy and I play late at night, so I might have a very biased point of view, but there are some people on in t2 (the level locked gankers) and some in t7, the rest is a barren, empty wasteland. I mean, no kidding, I have gone weeks without meeting anyone my level, of my or opposite factions, in t4-t6. Then again, as I said, I play late at night. Nevertheless, despite my weird playtimes, i have never seen anything like it in any other MMORPG I have ever played (even the Zeks in EQ had more activity at nighttime RIGHT BEFORE THEY WERE MERGED). Maybe it is the effect of having separate European servers... /shrug.
