but I am doing nothing of the sort.On my end, I do not notice any speed increase. People on faster(5%) mounts will routinely outrun me as they should. The only indications I get that things aren't kosher are my spell refresh timers going wonky(rolling back from 16 seconds left on recast to 18 seconds for example) or mobs warping like crazy when I'm pulling them(and not when they're just pathing). Neither of these happen 100% of the time, I'd say my CAs refreshing quickly happens 60% of the time and the mobs warping about 15% of the time or less. I shut down my computer after raids every night unless contested are due. And, even then, I don't recall seeing either of these issues when the instance occurred when I was "caught".The info I got so far says I was going 40 times the maximum speed the server allows, and I'm doing this every 2 to 4 minutes in every zone, including house zones. I didn't get info on how long these speed bursts last or what exactly my /locs show before the start and end of these episodes.I do not run third party programs. I use the default UI with absolutely no add ons, not even EQ2maps. I do not overclock anything on my system.I *think* the culprit is my motherboard's system clock. I used to have a different problem, 2 years ago, where I'd actually lose minutes(I have a screenshot), but since I can no longer synchronize my system clock with windows or the NIST that may solve that mystery. I was monitoring my clock via the windows system tray last night and I actually gained then lost the same minute over a period of about 3 hours. I've cleared my Real Time Clock RAM twice and replaced the battery since I've been suspended and my clock is still not running accurately. So what I need, besides an obvious fix, is an easy way to detect whatever's going on before I get banned outright once my suspension's up or anytime subsequently.I'll post logs and diagnostics in quick succession in replies.

Even if I cut my Dx Dialog in half it's still larger than the 20k character limit. Same goes with MSinfo.

I think you have to cut the dxdiag in thirds, and I think msinfo only requires certain parts to be posted. These parts are in teh stickied faq at the top of the page (I think)

I think the most important clues you gave were the problems you have with your system clock. PCs have a clock on the motherboard that is powered by the BIOS battery and when Windows boots it reads that clock and then Windows runs its own clock while the computer is on.Is this your motherboard?http://support.asus.com/download/do...p;model=A7N8X-XDo you have the current BIOS and motherboard drivers?I did a search and there are reports of clock problems with this motherboard and the nForce2 chipset.http://kerneltrap.org/node/4872http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/li...410.1/1505.htmlGo into your BIOS when the computer boots up and see if Front Side Bus (FSB) Spread Spectrum (SS) is on. I haven't checked my BIOS clock since I changed the FSB SS but, as I said, my windows clock is pretty much dead accurate now. It still doesn't want to sync with the NIST, though. As to the second part of your post - yeah, I'm a little wary. I got some advice from guildies stating that I should /bug and /petition my problem each time I log in. Which I will do, with statements I'm going to type up shortly. ;xThank you both for your research and insight. It's supposed to reduce EMI of the bus by modulating the signals it generates so that the spikes are reduced to flatter curves. It achieves this by varying the frequency slightly (usually .25% or .5%) so that the signal does not use any particular frequency for more than a moment. It's more to keep the FCC happy. Another option to think about while fiddling with your Clock issues,.. is that of your TCP/IP stack, and all things in your pipeline. Anything on your network, data going in, going out. Your Cable modem/DSL modem, Analog Modem, whathaveyou.Sporadic and corrupted information being passed to the server is theoretically possible to cause such errors,.. though highly unlikely due to design. Just something you might want to try. A simple test would be to utilize another connection type completely,.. with a test (say a trial account), to see if things change at all.I would also recommend a complete reinstall of the game from scratch, and wouldn't hesitate to reformat the computer completely (depending on how important this game is to you). *This is of course after you have exhausted all other options*.Once you have determined through other 'test' accounts the problem no longer exists, then I'm sure you can approach SOE, and explain (perhaps linking the thread) and details, what you have accomplished and perhaps, get the account reinstated. In any event, I wish you godspeed, and good luck.

Please use pool.ntp.org or 1.pool.ntp.orgFrom Wikiepedia:As of September 2007 the pool consists of about 1400 time servers,[1] up from about 600 in February 2006.[2] Because of the decentralization of this project accurate statistics on the number of clients cannot be obtained, but according to the project's website the pool provides time to "two to six millions of systems around the world."Reason:Due to so many computers worldwide using time.nist.gov by default it was having a daily slashdot effect on the systems. pool.ntp.org was created in response.

(since some overclockers take things too far and run their system RIGHT at the edge of stability and even a tiny increase in frequency by a center or upward spread pushs it into an unstable frequency). It really shouldn't be affecting the system's ability to keep time at all. Having Windows be unable to keep track of time is a serious hardware problem - if he knows enough to open up his system and replace the battery (plus do BIOS adjustments) I'm sure he can understand how important keeping track of time correctly is to a computer. You can try reinstalling windows, but really you might want to consider replacing the motherboard entirely. It's a socket A motherboard right? Could probably find one on Ebay for about $20-40. How will you know if the problem is fixed? You said you knew something was wrong because mobs were appearing to warp to you to keep up and your CA's were refreshing quicker than they should have been - that makes it easier to know when you've fixed the problem since that will stop happening.

And on the occasion where I got "caught" and a GM saw me, I don't know, doing something fishy on the beta server I didn't notice either of these symptoms. So, no, I can't detect directly that something's amiss necessarily.I'd really rather not replace my motherboard this close to RoK, especially when whatever's happening is nothing like they say is happening.I alluded to it in my original post, but I guess I'll expand on it here. I shut down my computer at night usually, and these symptoms don't manifest themselves every time I play/boot up. After I disabled the FSB SS I had my computer up and running for 36 hours, shut down for 8, and back up for 12 and I had no clock drift for either session or anything else. I had it going today after a cold boot and I'm getting noticeable clock drift and mobs warping. I double-checked the FSB SS setting and it was still disabled, and my BIOS clock was about 9 seconds fast - my windows clock was 2 to 3 times faster than that.I had a similar problem 2 years ago where my clock would run forward very quickly then jump backward, and I was experiencing some type of lag but I forget the details. I don't know what the fix was in that situation, either, but I did reset my bios RTC, turned off synchronizing with time-keeping services and I got a new power-supply shortly thereafter for an unrelated reason. I've gotten another PSU since then, but that was long, long before these new symptoms started. I should add that the most clock drift I experienced in the 2 years in-between these 2 incidents was maybe a minute fast a month. All of this is incidental, however, because I cannot see their logs. =willnotuse wrote:
Please don't use that server direct or any other time server. Please use pool.ntp.org or 1.pool.ntp.org
I synchronized with pool.ntp.org once successfully and then, 5 minutes later, am unable to do so with it(or 1.pool) again. =Neofate wrote:
Another option to think about while fiddling with your Clock issues,.. is that of your TCP/IP stack, and all things in your pipeline. A lot of potential fixes for my "problem" are a little extreme since I'm having absolutely no problem outside of playing EQ2, besides whatever triggers the server log parser to report me. And the two symptoms I see when I'm in game, namely the refresh timers being off and the mobs warping, are actually slightly detrimental to me. I avoid hitting my abilities right when they're up because I can get a "not ready yet" message and I'll miss auto-attacks on moving mobs because I'm "too far away". These problems in and of themselves really aren't a big enough deal for me to go and fiddle around inside my computer because I'm deathly afraid of nuking something with static electricity because I can't really afford to replace anything. I sent in a bug report when I first logged in after my suspension, as well as a petition. My petition was interpreted incorrectly, however, so I'm going to reword it, mention this thread by name, and see what happens.Dark_Grue wrote:
Taucher wrote:
My FSB Spread Spectrum was, indeed, set to .5%. Spread Spectrum is actually a performance degredation feature. Bad option for overclockers, though. Since it's enabled by default in just every BIOS I've seen that feature it, common problems with it screwing up the system clock would seem unlikely. I guess Othesus has encounter this issue before, I would have never guessed a causual link.

As I noted previously in this post, I'm afraid it might not be the fix I was hoping for afterall. =Dark_Grue wrote:
Taucher wrote:
It still doesn't want to sync with the NIST, though.

Suggests that the problem is not entirely solved, or that another problem is present. The date is correct. I'll keep trying some different servers - right now I've synced my windows clock with my Radio clock. Though I'm not sure I see how using that heavy-handed technique you described as being helpful to my situation.Again, thank you all very much for your input.

Your motherboard clock sounds fine. Your windows clock is still having problems and after a google search it looks like this is a known problem with this motherboard and the nForce2 chipset. The two solutions that I linked were turning off the Front Side Bus Spread Spectrum and changing to a different HAL driver for ACPI. I would make sure your files are backed up and try the HAL change since that has been noted to fix the problem for this motherboard.Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLereVaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere

I did not read the entire thread, but most of the second page.
