View Full Version : Running extra fast or slow

Sometimes when I load the game up my character will either be turbo charged or bogged down.

His run speed is completely different than it should be an his casting speed is messed up. When his casting is messed up the casting bar moves extra slow but the spells cast before the bar reaches the end and when it's going fast the casting bar will pause for a sec at the end of the casting before the spell goes off.

Has anyone ever heard of this and know what might be causing the problem? I'm not good at all with technical stuff but if there's something I need to submit to help please let me know and I will try to figure out how to do it.

I know from my time in wow that if you could boost up your run speed the way mine is occasionally boosted it was called speed hakking. Running extra fast is kinda cool sometimes, but I would much prefer to even things out and enjoy the game as it is designed to be played.

Oh, and I should add that I see the biggest extremes after my computer has been running for long periods of time.

tried full file scan?updated drivers?do you have a single/ dual or quad core cpu? i remember there being some issues with multicore cpu's without some patches for it

i've had this problem too. i wouldn't call it a problem except for the fact that the mobs are just as fast as me when i'm extra fast and because i play a caster, i usually die faster than i can smash all the buttons...it only happened to me after server patches and restarts. i would load up and be extra fast. i log out log back in and still extra fast... then i would quit to desktop and come in only to be extra slow.after i quit to desktop again and came back i was good to go.i don't remember if i had to restart at any point in between though.sucks that i had to waste so much time quitting to desktop and getting back in.i got an Athlon x2 64 dual core 3800+with a gig of ramgeforce 7600GT

do you have the amd dual core optimizer from their website installed? linkit supposedly fixes the run speed problem with amd dual cores.

i agree with killerbee on this one... the symptoms you describe are very reminiscent of when AMD first released thier dual core processors.

also, i would consider getting another gig of ram. eq2 runs best on 2 gigs of ram on windows xp. on vista, get 64bit and get 4 gigs. it does make a difference either way.

I do have a dual core processor, maybe it has something to do with that. I'll look into driver updates for it.

As far as ram goes, I have 2 gigs and now that I have turned off smooth fonts (or whatever the option is) I can run on very high graphics with lag only in city zones.
