After a couple of bad starts on a pvp server, I have finally got a foot-hold and have my character pretty well equiped for his level, all because I was lucky in finding some very rare items in the first couple of days. My other tries at pvp where not a good experience because of the constant ganking from yellows and orange players ,and I simply give up on it for a long time.

So I had an idea for new pvp players to help them get a start on a pvp server.

When someone makes a new character, they have a pvp switch that is set to OFF. They can not attack or be attacked while the switch is off. They have 7 days at this setting, after 7 days the switch will flip to ON and can never be turned off again. The player has the option to flip it to ON at anytime before the 7 days is up.

I think this would give new characters an easier start and time to build up there equipment a bit, instead of dinging 10 with very poor gear/spell.

Good hunting.

A veteran player has all the time in the world to make a chars gear, before they even roll the char. A new player has 10 levels....hardly seems fair.

If you lock your toon prior to hitting level 10 then you have all the time in the world to harvest and make your own gear or have it made for you.

Hmm , I guess the players already on pvp dont want it easier for new people to get started and have a more even fight at low levels.

My bad. Gank away...

or maybe a 7 day switch is just a bad idea?

Not trying to sound mean either....I agree with above, bad idea. Would give us vets with ubargod stuff 7 days (an eternity) the ability to get some chars up to mid T3 with capped AA... tahts not right..w ould just create more trouble for you.I suggest you hit up the adopt-a-newb thread (sticky @ top) or just roll in groups, you will still get ganked... but you will ALWAYS get ganked no matter how you roll so just live with it and get past T2. Unless you aspire to be a T2 ganker yourself lvl to at least T3 to get rid of the crap. Also as said, you have 10 lvls to prepare, pharm zones with nameds that you can kill get some high T1 fabled/legendary, or just go harvesting and make some T2 MC be4 you get there. its very easy and doesn't reallly take too much time now that rares are ez as hell to find.

The same goes for the pharming named you lose AA's doing anything before 10 that just hurts you. Everything you do before to get good gear takes away from AA's. All quests. adventuring, killing of names. The arguement you vets are giving makes sense to you as vets. But the excuse you say that vets will be able to do this and that, you already have money to do all that before you even make a toon don't you? I know when I make a new toon she has all the best gear and all adept spells as soon as she is able to wear or scribe. The idea seems to be for people brand new with nothing, remember your first? and being new to PVP myself it's rough <not whining> just stating the obvious.Thank you for the suggestion " the adopt-a-newb" thread. I'll go read it. The killing doesn't bother me really I mean the people killing me well I'm blue to them whoa what a win for them even I in my crap gear can kill a blue. I like the ones that are my level that come after me the oranges they are wusses. Getting a slayer title from killing blues isn't an accomplisment it's just time spent. An after thought you could make that 7 day thing something like a claim reward one use one char. never to be used again.

It certainly can't be that you've just thought up a terrible fix. Nope, we must all have level 17 characters out there killing newbies and we're going to stop you - the hero who's there to quench the flow. God, we're pretty much just monsters aren't we? Instead remove level locking and the problem would be solved.

exp lock at lvl 9, then go harvest in ant / cl till you have enough rares to make your own t2 mc gear, yes, it takes some time... but hey.. its allready in the game... or, rush past the locked twinks and gank them
