Hiya,

Im after some suggestions for the PvP scene.....being a veteran PvE player but a total noob to PvP I know nothing about what might best suit my playstyle. I am very excited about trying out PvP and have plenty of PvE experience to draw on...but how much of this will come in use for PvP I am yet to discover...from what I've read here on the forums its very different!!!

So I'd like to ask....

1. For a newcomer to PvP and someone who likes to casual roleplay(given the oppurtunity) and also being a european based player, which server would people suggest I try ?

2. I have played to high level; Tank(Guard,Pally,Monk), Mage(Conj) and Healer(Defiler,Fury) these are the most familiar classes to me and I have enjoyed them . I am not very familiar with any of the scout classes and would be reluctant to roll this class unless it was the most highly reccomended. So before I ask which class people suggest i try, I will just clarify what I want from PvP. First off... I know im gonna die alot whatever class I choose, however this doesn't concern me. I just want to have fun! I want to be able to hold my own in a fair fight and I want to win one from time to time, but I also want to have a chance for escape should overwhelming odds descend upon me. Group and Solo battles interest me....raids not so much. To play a class I've not played before is more appealing than any that I've listed above. But most of all I want a reasonably easy introduction to PvP...is that possible ?

so considering my motives...Which class/classes would you suggest I go for ? and why ?

3. Anything other tips, suggestions or advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Im positive you can all lend me a helping hand with my expedition into the Everquest2 PvP universe and help make it a fun and heart thumping experience!

Thankyou for you time and consideration.

These include warden, fury, ranger, swash, brigand. Get your feet wet with these. These are not necessarily the best, but all get at least some early level run speed boost, heals, track, or evac.

3. Anything other tips, suggestions or advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

My best advice is to level slow...very slow. Always remember there are opponents who have vested 10x, even 100x the time you have. Some will be in full fabled equipment. You should set a goal for mastercrafted armor and adept 3 skills at the minimum. You can close the gap, to some extent, by aiming for max AA per level. Consider locking your XP at some point and level up on quests.

Earn money by selling all treasured items through the broker. There is an extremely active market for "cheap" transmutable(sp?) items. What might sell for 20s to a vendor might sell for 3-4g on the broker, even if it is seemingly worthless. Hit the low level dungeons when they turn green. A key master, or if you're lucky, a piece of fabled, might buy you a full set of armor.

Also don't get frustrated. The early levels from 10-20 and some cases 30 is populated by roving death squads who will obliterate you in seconds. Just shrug it off, it's part of the fun, even if they "corpse hump you." I recently leveled a toon up to 20 and took 25 deaths, with locked XP the whole way. It's really not too bad.

Find a guild, make some friends. Your odds of survival go up way more than 100% even by having just one other partner. Have fun, if you're anything like me you'll be hooked as soon as you turn level 10 and get ganked repeatedly.

Im positive you can all lend me a helping hand with my expedition into the Everquest2 PvP universe and help make it a fun and heart thumping experience!

Thankyou for you time and consideration.

If you want to play something different and still have a decent PVP chance, try:

Wizard/Warlock - basic principle is nuke your way out of trouble before manashield gets soaked up.

Illusionist - a LOT of fun in PVP but you will die a lot. Steep learning curve but when mastered, it's frighteningly scary.

Warden - you get SoW, evac, melee spec can be devastating in PVP. Plus you can travel quickly (ports).

Mystic - Int/Agi spec just blows anything away if played right. With scourge against the right classes and your weapon mastery/100% crit chance, definately someone to be afraid of - but no real get out of jail card, if you're ganked, there's no escape.

Zerker is a lot of fun in PVP, but can be trying <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

I hesitate to suggest this, because Venekor is pretty much a PvE server with a side (larger than Vox) of PvP... but that one sentence is telling me Venekor is for you. As for your other questions...

2. Sounds to me like you want a Warden. They can be one-man armies and are impossible for some classes to kill (at 70) they can also evac to get away from large groups (and any fight they have any chance of losing if that's your thing.)

3. Prepare to die. Alot.

I'd normally suggest Rogue/Druid, but seeing as you are reluctant to play a scout, druid is the best option IMO.

About servers...I personnaly recommend nagafen, as it has by far the highest population of the 3 PvP servers.

Nagafen has the larger *US* population. Quite often when I'm creating a new toon for whatever reason, I'll see Venekor as having a higher population than Nagafen. FYI, I'm Australian, GMT+8 (+1), or PST.. +15ish I think it is. I play at night usually.

Definately more Euro/Aussies on Venekor... 3-4 weeks ago anyways, not sure now.

No he's staying !!!

To the op, I think he didn't ask what was the server with the most population, but what would suit the best to his gameplay. And I would say Venekor.

Hi there! To answer some of your questions:1. Depends what you want the most. Venekor is the roleplaying server, and I think they have a decent amount of euros there too. Nagafen has the highest population and lots of europeans, but very little roleplaying. I can't really comment on Vox, since I've never played there. 2. Normally I'd recommend brigand, swashie, ranger or warden/fury if you want something newbie friendly that can easily hold its own. Espesially the first 3 classes. Track is huge in PvP, and will give make it far easier to both find people and avoid them. If you are not so interested in playing a scout - or the classes you have previously played, you might want a warden. Strong PvP class, and very difficult to beat for a lot of classes. Shadowknight is also a very good choice if you want a fighter class. For mages, perhaps a wizard? Manashield and big nukes with knockbacks is definatly a good combination. All these classes get evac, which is what you will need to get away from groups. I see one here has mentioned illusionists. Personally I wouldn't recommend that if you want to have at least a slight chance of getting away from gankers. No evac, and they are fragile as glass. Same goes for necromancers, conjurors and coercers.
