Close to if not more then or less then 20: so being a 37 now, i have wasted my days questing and have 28 aa points, so I have some questions as i have grouped up many times in the last week. 4 very successful groups in Runes of Varsoon (RoV), and then yesterday with a bunch of Goblins and a bad (egg) slug at the end that wiped us twice, (I was the Tank) and I feel that I am the reason our group died.

1. if a mob says epicx2, doesnt that mean two groups? if so, then I will not blame our death on me.

2. With so many amend/hate/transfer buffs, I am really confused, I am using only latest buffs possible on everything, except my inflame, I keep all my latest 3 taunts up, as they are used at the same time. I notice it does not do any good to have 2 sword option spells (power cleave) (holy Sunder) up , cause if you use one.... the other cant be used (use one, wait for both). So as I group, I do not know who to place amends on, hate on, or transfer buffs, please just give me a run down of who you buff with what, and who NOT to buff wiht a certain spell. Is there a way to screw up another player by placing a buff on them? found answer, please check,

and I would rank the best amends targets Warlock, Conjurer, Swash, Ranger, Wizard, Necro.

3. AA POINTS!!! wow, i respec'd. Nuff said! I used to have points spread out across the board. And holy cow when i placed my points in agility 4/8/8, stamina 4/4, so far. I can't believe the aoe damage i do in social mobs, it is soooo nice to have the next mob down to half when i get to them after these spells. Should I place points in Intelligence before completing stamina, or throw in stamina until all 32 used, then place last 16 in intel, and ... you have one point left, where would you put it?

4. I went to McDonalds, and got the monopoly meal, meaning I got a meal to get all 6 monopoly game pieces, my chicken had two peices, but the cups and fries were out. After complaining and asking for 4 more, they said tough luck, try next week. Would you call the hotline and complain?

5. Group questions, as I get into a group, I really don't know which classes are the healers and such, I am not a good main tank but i am learning, but I feel that I am an amazing off tank as every time in ROV someone almost died, or needed a quick heal, or pulled aggro, I accomplished this and it went very well. Even got compliments from the healer, saying, hey nice job, way to watch out, hey well placed heal, stuff like that, I am compiling a list of what each class does, so i can tell, do you have any tips on how to play a paladin in a group as a main tank?

6. I got in trouble for throwing heals out when members almost died, when we were attacking a single mob, I have used all of my damage spells, swords, wraths, trample, joust, (created a macro, so they do succession really fast) and so i threw in a group heal. Do we get a single mob awessome damage spell? Causei dont have one yet.

7. As I travel through the zones, I notice that I can't get anywhere freeport as i am scowled at, (kelethin based high elf). I am curious if i am on track for aa points, and how do you know when you have enough, I feel like i am like 9 points behind, cause i am a level 37 with 28 points. IS this good? bad? how can i gauge how i am doing with aa points?

8. who do we compliment most in the groups, if they ask for dps, that is not me right? but yet, i am always first or second in dps when I was in ROV, and we did very well. Who is our best asset or biggest compiment in a group?

9. When i was in game, I had the group leader in group chat put up (dps tracker) which told us who and how much dps was done to one certain mob, how can i do that? IT listed each player, total damage points, and dps percentage. Very cool, I want one!!!!

10. I love the infravision we have, i got some realllllly cool screen shots of some baddies in infravision with spell damage in background, but i am not posting them on here or my character yet, until i figure out how to turn all the windows off, is there a master toggle to turn all ingame windows off?

11. gear, I have noticed a major difference in this game from eq1. Dropped gear. All dropped gear out of ROV is crap compared to what i have, due to stats, i am still using 22 level gear. (im 37 remember). I am trying to find gear good enough for a paly, at level 35 or so. Question is , since i chose armorer, should i get him to a much higher level? I cant afford the steel clusters at 20 gold a pop to make the gear, just to turn around and sell at 10 gold cause market is so competitive. SO.... do i buy gear again 35'ish for the same stats as mine, or just grind out the armorer, do the armorers make the gear suitable for my level of play as they grow? or is it crap?

12. I have no adornments as I am not sure what +2 stamina realllly does for you. Is it worth it to spend 10 gold on an item that says +2 compared to +20 health, what is the real comparison? what does +2 really equal to, so that way when i buy gear, i know which to look at.

13. AFter extensive research on here, unclear is the above question. I read paladins need gear that is imbued, for extra damage or healing, so is it more important to get a peice of gear that has +20 health,+20 Power, +4sta,+4str,+4 int..... or is it worth it to get half of those stats, but imbued for the extra damage, (sanguine, or gleaming strike)?

15. I know about "b" to open all your windows in your inventory, but is there a way to open all your boxes in your vault or bank at once too?

16. When in a group, as the main tank, we almost died because i was hitting tab to find the next goblin in our social pull, i was told to target the lowest one first, then go up to the ^^^, as i was doing this, we finished all of our social, and when i tabbed just to be sure i wasnt missing any. my tab hooked a social 30 meters away, next thing we know, the social came running at our dps'er and she almost died till i could hook aggro, and plug away. Obviously as i tabbed, she was doing damage based on assisting me, how can i make sure this does not happen, is hitting tab targeting the nearest npc? or is there a separate one i could use for "within 5 meters" or whatever?

17. Have i annoyed you yet with all my questions? Keep in mind, these questions are questions I could not find legitimate answers to when researching. Thank you all very much if you can reply to this, I have work for 3 days, so i have time to get better gear, fix ingame stuff, apply knowledge you guys give me. I can only log in for 1-2 hours at a time for a few days. Then it will be all out war again for 3 days. (i love my schedule) very eq supportive. lol.

Well, I'll try to answer most of these. Just choose the best DPSer in the group.

3. AA POINTS!!! wow, i respec'd. Nuff said! I used to have points spread out across the board. I don't know the best way to utilize the Paladin and Crusader trees, but I'm sure there are several posts in here regarding AA placement.

4. I went to McDonalds, and got the monopoly meal, meaning I got a meal to get all 6 monopoly game pieces, my chicken had two peices, but the cups and fries were out. Get what you paid for!

5. Group questions, as I get into a group, I really don't know which classes are the healers and such, I am not a good main tank but i am learning, but I feel that I am an amazing off tank as every time in ROV someone almost died, or needed a quick heal, or pulled aggro, I accomplished this and it went very well. Tanks: Paladin (natch), Shadowknight, Bruiser, Monk, Guardian, Berserker. Spell based DPS: Wizard, Warlock, Conjuror, Necromancer, Illusionist, Coercer (yes that's right I said Illy and Coercer are DPS...sue me). Melee DPS: Brigand, Swashie, Assassin; Rangers are more ranged DPS, and Dirges and Troubadours are more support oriented, but can do some decent melee damage as well.

My opinion here is if the fecal matter is hitting the fan, by all means fire off an emergency heal. Paladins are good at performing several roles. It doesn't make sense to me to not use some of your ability if needed. If a healer's pride is hurt because a Paladin had to pick up the slack, maybe they will learn to heal better or not complain. As far as specific spells as you describe, I'll let one of our more knowledgable players answer this one.

Opinion on this one is going to vary. I've known people who make it a point to keep their AA xp and adv. xp at the same level, point for point. I personally feel that as long as you are grouping and questing at a decent level, and not restricting yourself to a single dungeon to grind, the AA's will come pretty quickly. It's true that this game is faction based, and there are going to be places that you can't reach right now. You can always sneak into Freeport later and explore for AA's.

8. who do we compliment most in the groups, if they ask for dps, that is not me right? but yet, i am always first or second in dps when I was in ROV, and we did very well. Who is our best asset or biggest compiment in a group?

Hmmm...Paladins can put out some decent damage (especially against undead/evil type mobs) but no, I would not classify them as DPS. I'm afraid that I don't really have a better answer for this one.

9. When i was in game, I had the group leader in group chat put up (dps tracker) which told us who and how much dps was done to one certain mob, how can i do that? IT listed each player, total damage points, and dps percentage. Very cool, I want one!!!!

That is called a parser. They are very handy programs, especially later on when you start raiding. I personally use Advanced Combat Tracker. Easy to set up and use. Very nice program.

10. I love the infravision we have, i got some realllllly cool screen shots of some baddies in infravision with spell damage in background, but i am not posting them on here or my character yet, until i figure out how to turn all the windows off, is there a master toggle to turn all ingame windows off?

I do believe that F10 (by default) toggles in game windows. Press it once to show window frames, press it again to get rid of windows all together. Press it one more time to bring all windows back. Very good idea to get rid of those unsightly windows when trying to make a nice artistic screenshot.

11. gear, I have noticed a major difference in this game from eq1.

A lot of the dropped gear in the old world zones is going to be sub par. Unless you get some decent Legendary loot off of a named, most of it isn't worth looking at. My advice here is to try to harvest as much as possible and either A) level up your own armorer and make your own gear (cheaper, but VERY time consuming), or B) make friends with an armorer on your server and give him the rares. Most crafters will only charge a small amount to make an item as long as the rare is supplied. At your level you could try to get a suit of Feysteel, but I think you'll outlevel that too quickly. You could try to get some Blood Iron Ore from the Zek mines and Death Fist Citadel (with a good group, or course) and get some of the nifty armor that can be made from it. It is wearable at lvl 37. Or, you could wait until 42 and get a set of Ebon armor (I think it's Ebon...been so long. Please correct this if I'm wrong). Almost any rare crafted armor is good up till tier 7 as long as it is level appropriate.

12. I have no adornments as I am not sure what +2 stamina realllly does for you. Is it worth it to spend 10 gold on an item that says +2 compared to +20 health, what is the real comparison? what does +2 really equal to, so that way when i buy gear, i know which to look at.

Meh. I don't personally feel adornments for armor are too important at your level. Most will probably disagree with me, but armor is out leveled so quickly in this game, that it really behooves you to save your money for the next tier's set of armor, rather than getting the stuff you have adorned. Transmuters everywhere are now putting me on ignore, I can see it now :)

Imbuing is usually a good idea. Getting the breastplate imbued at the very least is a good idea, but the legs can be imbued too and the proc you get from it is worthwhile for the additional cost. You don't lose any stats when imbuing an item.

15. I know about "b" to open all your windows in your inventory, but is there a way to open all your boxes in your vault or bank at once too?

As far as I know, no. There is no command to open bank boxes etc. all at once. Might make a nice suggestion to the devs (hint hint...)

I still use Tab as well, and it is a nasty habit. I am by far not qualified to answer this one hehe.

17. Have i annoyed you yet with all my questions? hint never amends a conj or necro, expecially at lower levels their pet does a decent amount of dps and you do not suck the pets hate unless you put on pet (also useless) so if a conj is parsing 250, 100 of that may be pet and your only getting whatever percentage of 150 not 250.

shift +b will open up your bank bags

tab targeting is dangerous but there are ways to mitigate that... pan out and spin the camera so that only the encounter you are fighting is in the window ... you will only tab to things in your view... shame on me i use this all the time when i MA raids.

for aa's i'm looking at 4/4/8 agil 4/4/8/8/1 sta 4/4/8 int and havent figured out what to do with the remainder.. last sta might be 2 pts forgive me i'm not able to look at my toon.

the best amends target is your best dpser Advanced Combat Tracker can help you with determining who that is. the list you had is maybe not perfect but close enough. (edit: necro's and conjies are not the best choice for the reasons that therodge stated, however i do know a few (my guild leader included) who make excellent amends targets for most group situations, but they are few and far between) if someone is stealing aggro from you alot then swap to them. sometimes a monk or bruiser will take my aggro... they can FD so i will usually keep it on a cloth wearer.. unless that clothie is just not hitting the numbers i need. some dps just steals aggro to show they can.. i call it overplaying your class... I do it on my necro all the time =) my rules of blame are this... Tank dies its the healer's fault, healer dies it's the tanks fault. dps dies it's thier own [I cannot control my vocabulary] fault

go ahead and get imbued stuff but dont bother with adornments until you get to the high tiers except for cheap weapon adornments if you really want one. I belive (I may be wrong) that your spell crits work on weapon proc's (someone correct me if i'm misinforming him)

the mastercrafted armor was fine for every tier except T7 i suppose it was fine too but theres way way better legendary out there in that tier that is easy to get.

and there are more than enough clueless paladins out there, i never mind questions, even silly ones, from someone who earnestly wants to play their class better.

An epicx2 is usually designed for 2 groups, but epics vary in difficulty. Some are quite easy for a group, and some are very powerful. The amends target varies greatly depending on the particular individuals, and don't forget that another tank can be a good amends target, if they use their taunts to supplement your agro. The usual favorites are warlock and swashbuckler. If your best choice turns out to be a conjurer or necro, consider the possibility of amending their pet instead. Another important consideration is single target vs. AE agro, as you need to maintain both your current target and all the rest.(My best amends targets are a warlock and an assassin, sometimes a brigand who has stopped playing now + the assassin's MD.)AA Points: I would have made int the first priority, but don't worry about it too much. I would recommend becoming very familiar with the class names, and always skim the group to know who can do what. Eventually, you want to be grouping with people you already know, much of the time, but you still have to know who's in the group.Gear: I was happy with regular crafted armor, but that was a long time ago. You might consider harvesting to find steel, but it would be faster to just level with carbonite armor. I would ignore adornments until I can get either a very cheap upgrade, or a long-term upgrade of the best quality.16 - Implied targeting is not always a good thing for damage dealers to use. A share of the blame goes to the damage dealer for not checking their target, but you want to do your best to make it easy to target through you anyway. I tend to use "target nearest enemy" more than tab. On some raid targets, which live long enough for this to help, I have been known to pre-target the next mob, switch back, and then swap back to the new target a little before the previous target dies. (You can make a key to toggle between your last two targets.)

as far as tabbing through targets... as mentioned, turn your back to the part of the zone yet to be cleared. You should be (although I don't) be using F8. F8 should cycle you through all the mobs currently engaged. I don't like it because of it's position on the keyboard.Amends: In my younger days I really liked monks... they give steady consistent hate... it's immediate with no spikes. Currently... hands down... Warlock. The only draw back is the speed in which they can attack. You have to taunt the warlock cause, unless they are used to playing with a paly... they often take it slow to begin with which can cause trouble for you. I often throw out the "Paly" challenge to the lock... "go ahead... I dare you to try and pull agro..." It doesn't happen very often... groups and in raid.Adornments: Don't bother with them until you're much higher (leveling my assassin, I didn't adorn until I reached t7 and was certain what I was wearing I would be wearing for a long time) unless you have too much money that you need to spend. Same could be the same with expensive gear and master spells... pick and choose wisely. If you're a serious player you will fly through tiers and items will quickly become obsolete. Do these make a difference... you bet... but they can be very expensive.

I am at work at the moment so i can't give you the drill down options to get to it, but it makes life so much easier for me(sometimes being a dwarf while grouped with taller races requires a tab selecting, especially on mobs that like to debuff you or shapechange you and make you lose your illusion).

THAT was a great day for my armorer, i finally feel like i accomplished something with him.

Armoring is a great tradeskill for a Paladin and you'll be set with your own wears well into your 60s. Good choice, Nan. /thumbsup...and as for the implied targeting suggestions those folks are spot on. I'm surprised no one gave you a more detailed view of "flipping mobs" while tanking on point. Not only does it enable you to watch your teams 6 but most of the time it keeps the area you cleared in you point of view while fighting. It also lowers parry and barrage damage to your team members if they are looking at the mobs back. "Flipping mobs" starts to become a very natural instinct as you tank more in EQ2.

on befallen its called "turning the mobs" so it took me a second to realize what he was talking about. its really easy to do too. pull almost to your party, pause for a split second as the mobs catch up to you, then step forward thru them, spin around and now you are facing the group with the mobs in front of you and the group behind the mobs, it opens up the flank and back for scout attacks, without your freindly neighborhood ranger picking up an add for you =P and as stated above, allows you to watch their back. i also use the camera to pan out and look around as i'm tanking, and will often snag roamers that will add with a quick taunt or aoe nuke when they are in range. other times i'm too lazy and/or comfortable with the zone and just grab them head on, however, turning the mobs is a very useful skill, required for some situations, especially raids, and just a good habit to have.

Another fun tactic is if you have at least the joust ability in the agility line, you can use it on the pull after you preward yourself and teleport to the mob. I have used this many times when social agro was not a issue with any nearby mobs, or if it is next to furniture/cliffs. When you port to the mob, it moves forward a step or 2 automatically and flips to you, it then tries to hit you automatically, the ward fires off and you just recieved close to 2 k of hate with the damage of joust and the warded hate before ever firing off a taunt yet. Fire off group taunt/single taunt and follow up with brimstone. After that if all mobs are within radius unload your AOE's and watch the mobs drop. I hate to admit it, but the joust ability is the most fun type and useful ability i have used from the paladin tree. There are more needed ones like the block and smite evil, but joust has made it entertaining in fights and does a decent damage.

I am not an experienced pally but am an experienced zerk and fury, if I may try to answer a couple of your q's...

As a healer (fury) I would rather anyone who has the ability to heal to do so when possible... a healer can go to great lengths to keep everyone alive and healthy, but sometimes it just is not enough... by you adding in an extra heal will make their job a little easier, just the same as the healer throwing out a debuff or dot, making dps'ers job a little easier, and scouts putting up hate transfers making your job a little easier. A group is a team, work together and you will achieve great things. (I know, I know, sounds like one of those motivational posters with the cat hanging on a tree or somethin lol)

Tab (cycle out) targetting is a no-no... forget it is there... F8 (target nearest npc) can be used in place of tab, but can also have the same effect as tabbing if the closest mob to you is the one you don't want to pull... the most effective way to target is to click with the mouse... it can be a pain at first picking apart mobs from players but once you learn this technique it is the best way to target mobs and avoid targeting something you don't want to.

EDIT: Also using F8 to target does not allow you to target a new mob until the current one is dead or another one gets closer then the current one... this can be good and bad at times.
