I'm reinstalling EQ2 on a new computer. The patcher says it's finished and says Update Complete. Yet I am unallowed to choose a character to load into. And the Updating button is greyed out and yet nothing is downloading. Any idea what I should try.. I've tried rebooting and trying the patcher again, and nothing.

I am guessing that the new computer has Vista on it. You will want to setup the compatibility for it to complete properly. Here is how you can do that.1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Double click on the program launch icon. This should allow you to run your program under Windows Vista.
Hey guys,

A few days ago I re installed Everquest 2 . I have not benn able to even get to the launcher. I get the SOE box saying its downloading the launcher and it starts running and it begins to prepare files. The I get an error window that says "Everquest 2 launchpad" Images could not be loaded. And the program shuts down. I have not been able to get past this point with any of the fixes stated in these forums . I have used these same fixes for other games and they have worked but not for EQ2. I downloaded the game multiple times and I also tried using my old EQ2 retail disc either way I get the exact same error window. Is there any fix for this and is anyone else having this problem ?

As I reply to this thread, I'm at 14+Hours to go yet for downloading game. I had same problem with "images" message for many hours. I think updating my dx drivers may have done that part. Even though like you, this is a brand new computer. Earlier today, I had same problem, said patch was done but no play button or character select, etc. Maybe that server was not working? Anyway, I uninstalled it, started over and started out at 7 hours time left, think it is at 14 hours now. Hmmmm, seems like something wrong with this scene. Oh well, if it doesn't load over night, I'll cancel subscription again and got back to WoW or something as long as it isn't related to SOE. Good luck all.
