I recently betrayed my defunct conjuror over to a 70 necro (all I can say is wow). I've been running around with him having a blast. The class is so versatile and is just fun to play. It hurt to give up all my masters and adept III's...I have mostly only purchased the new spells up to Adept I except for Tank Pet and Defensive Stance. I figured that I will try and ride it out until RoK hits and then see where I stand.

What I am looking for now are some good gear recommendations for a solo necro to obtain. I looked over my old gear and most is treasured with a bit of legendary. I have Grizzfazzles Staff, Yehdahd's Caduceas, X'haviz' Robe, and the caster earing. I obtained a decent bracelet from the first named in Acad the other day. +20 to spell damage.

Is there any must-have or great gear that a necro can solo for to toughen up?

Some great responses.

Regarding the Shield of the Magi....can Evil's do this quest? It appears to be linked to high elves.

Regarding the cape...I am currently one step shy of completely the Ro cloak. I started that when I was a conjuror. Once complete I think I'm going to sit on it for a month to see what Bert's cloak brings us disease slingers.

You think the rainment is better than x'haviz's gown? I had thought the mana regen on it made it almost unbeatable. I do have an agro issue with my tank pet since I do not yet have PC to boost his agro skills. I wanted TH first.

I just wish I chose Necro in the first place but I'm finding both classes a lot of fun to play. As for my Conj, I'm glad I didn't betray. I like having both characters and I don't see a reason to push my Conj to 70 yet until they raise the AA caps. My Necro is now L.41.

Last time I geared up I checked my fellow necros on eq2players. check for lvl 69 ones, as 70 might be all fabled raid geared. There I have found some nice stuff, sometimes on the broker, sometimes quest reward or such. Depends all on your playstyle and time If you have time you can hunt our EoF class gear (najena something, check lootdb where it drops).

Actually that is what I have spent some time doing recently...hitting EQ2 players to compare too. The reason for the post was that I didn't want to spend an enormous amount of time looking up each item to see if it was questable/campable solo. I love my necro but I spend most of my time on my zerker, so he is for soloing/farming fun. The responses so far have been great. I'm working on the Shield of the Magi presently, and completing my deity cloak too.

Love that proccing and +dmg gear.
