I recently started on the game, and im having problem with shadows in game, after a while they disappear and don't come back unless i close the game and open it again, i've tryied every single driver i could use for my graphic card, and i still have problems.

I searched the forums to see topics from people with the same problem and i found quite a few of it, but i'd like to know if you guys have any clue about when you're going to fix it? It's really sad i can't use shadows in game, it makes a world of difference on the visual, plus people said this problem has been arround for years...

I run the game on this system:

Processor: Core 2 Duo E6600.

Graphic card: Geforce 8600GTS.

Memory: 2gb 667.

Motherboard: Asus P5B Deluxe wi fi edition.

I hope you fix it fast.

The forums are, regardless of intent or advertisement, de facto primarily user-to-user support.

You've already seen what people have to say on the subject: disappearing shadows are a well-known problem that appears when system resources are low - shadows are shut down, and never re-enabled even if system resources are released above the trigger point. Restoring shadows requires (I believe) a restart of the game. It's a reproducable problem, and it's been pretty well-known and reported here in this forum (which doesn't seem to stop people from starting multiple threads on it every few days).

Unless or until a SoE representative chooses to comment on it (which would be an uncommon event), there's not much anyone here can add to what you, and the rest of the community already know. SoE usually doesn't share software development schedules with the community, when they do it's usually only at the point where the implementation is done and they are including it in the next release/update - but even then pre-notification is rare. A lot of significant technical fixes and changes don't even make it into the Update Notes.

Considering this problem's been reported since release, the two days you've waited for an answer... well, I wouldn't hold my breath.

EDIT: Probably should have mentioned - major expansion releases are usually when game client updates are bundled in. It's possible that this issue might be bundled in with the RoK release and will be one of hundreds of changes and fixes; but as I mentioned, it isn't likely to be acknowledged or discussed separately. Wait until RoK's released, and empirically we'll see if it's fixed.

the problem with the shadows falls into the same category as application ran out of memory and falling through the world.... both happens over a wide variety of systems with every possible game setting and driver version at random times to random people... i wouldnt hold my breath for a fix.

shadows are a visual "extra" and dont need to be on for game play imo... even if i had the tip-top highest end system that could be had right now, i would STILL turn off shadows, because they are still such a performance hog. yes it can make that much of a difference.
