Redemption on... yourself?

I was in a small group the other night and was doing a Heroic Op... my taunt resisted, encounter taunt was on CD, I saw Redemption flashing and clicked it, putting Redemption on myself.I've been trying to figure out why the game would let me transfer hate from myself... to myself.  Is there some sort of benefit to placing Redemption on yourself?

None that I am aware of. Its actually pretty useless on ourself.

if you do not have a target for your 'transfer line' and you are in a group, it will put the icon on you, but not the buff (as the buff can not be placed on yourself).  It is a weird bug and how redemption is part of a HO is beyond me, it is a cast and forget buff...

That doesn't sound quite right, though, as when I place it on myself I get "redemptive aura" in my buff bar...  which says it has a 5% chance to proc "Annoy" on anyone who attacks the target, forcing them to target me.

that sounds even stranger...  I didn't think redemption even did that.  Will have to check when I get a chance...

Pretty obviously the PVP effect of the spell.  Not a PVPer myself, so not sure why you'd be able to cast it on yourself (though if someone was beating on you and it procced, they'd have to continue targetting you for a short duration even if they didn't want to?) Anyway, PvP spell effects are probably best discussed in the PvP boards, since 80% of the people here will be as clueless as I am...

Actually, that shows up on both the PVE and PVP tooltip of the buff....

<p>yah, but on PvP some of the PvE versions of abilities are different than on the PvE server.</p><p>I do not believe that the PvE server version has that ability, I forgot to look though, but as amends is the upgrade to redemption and amends doesn't have that ability...</p>
