View Full Version : Guild XP debt?

I recently helped level a guild from 38 to 50, primarily with tradeskill and Tenebrous Tangle writs. When doing the 4 writs in TT that required Scaleborn Sentries, a "round" of 4 writs was advancing the guild by about 2.4% at level 48. This projects roughly to about 114,000 guild status to get from level 48 to 49.I've changed membership to a guild that is only level 30, and the same Tenebrous Tangle writs are doing horribly little to level the guild. A round of 4 writs here is only giving 0.95% at level 30, projecting out to about 288,000 guild status to get form level 30 to 31.This makes no sense to me, that it would be that much harder to level from 30 to 31 than from 48 to 49. I know SoE changed the policy so that all writs give 10% of the personal status reward as guild status, regardless of guild size (my level 30 guild is half the size of the level 50 guild). The only thing I can come up with is that the level 30 guild recently lost half of its membership, and only half the status that it took to get to level 30 (roughly 1,000,000 total) left the guild when it split. My theory is that we are working off some kind of "Guild XP debt" whereby we only show level advancement for about 1/3 of what we truly earned, until this "debt" is paid off. I also considered that level 60 writs may be "nerfed" to help level lower guilds, but level 25 TS writs on my woodworker show the same pace of advancement...Has anyone else seen anything like this in their guilds? Or has level 30-31 always been a heck of a lot harder than 48 to 49? Or has anyone seen any info on the guild xp mechanics to confirm or deny my theory on guild xp?All thoughts and opinions are welcome,Thanks!--Corgi

Unless it also changed, as far as I know the number of accounts within a guild still affects the amout of xp needed to level the guild. I might be wrong on that, but I have not read anywhere that this particular mechanic was taken away.

It's a flat 10% of personal status earned across the board now no matter how many accounts. 30's always seemed somewhat rough, but I'm not sure on how the levels xp for guild translates.

I'm actually seeing a big problem with guild status right now in general. Now, I play on Test so your mileage may vary. But:We hit 45 and 50 both in 2007 and we were shooting for 60 before RoK launch. Well a bunch of people left so we're shooting for 55. And for several weeks we've been slogging through the 80 - 90% section of 54. We went from 53 to 80% of 54 the same way you'd (or more to the point, I'd) expect, but it took us as many writs and HQs to get from 80% of 54 to 85% of 54 as it did for us to do most of the rest of 54. The difference lately has been so marked for us that I did a /bug report on it.So I think it might not be a level thing you're seeing as a now vs then thing you're seeing. Guild XP earned has definitely taken a dive for us in the last month.

We're working our guild up from 30, and I haven't noticed a big drop in the percentage of guild level a set of 4 TT scaleborn sentry writs gives us. It's been going down slightly as I level and the writs are worth a bit less, but not more than I'd expect from that. My UI shows the guild level and percent to next level in real-time, so I get to see the increases as they happen.

Thanks for the thoughts.... for comparison, would a few people mind posting what level their guild is, and how much xp (as a percentage of that guild level) a round of four writs gives them?I'll start:Guild Level 30, a round of 4 writs gives 2728 guild status, 0.95% gained towards next guild level.Thanks!--Corgi

I am in a very small guild on guk, level 24ish. I find it odd that doing level 67 writs i personally move the guild 1 percent per, and my guildmate does her level 57 writs and they also move the guild 1 percent per.

I have tried to understand how to best level a guild and it can be quite frustrating.

I can remember that when we dinged from 39 to 40, suddenly the quests gave more exp.

I didn't keep hard numbers, so discount this as one of those "felt like" posts if you want. Level 30 took a long time to get through. by comparison, the rest of the 30's were cake. I was doing those same TT writs at the time as a 63 and 64 Guardian. It also moved the Guild exp bar about 1% (I use default UI, so had no exact numerical value to compare with) AT 31 the same writs, at the same adventure level gave over 2%.

My theory is that since the original Guild level cap was 30, that 30 (And actually from 25 up) took more and more exp to get through. When new levels were introduced, which I think was close to the same time that the patronage system and Guild de-leveling were removed, the amount of exp needed for a level dropped. I'd be shocked if someone proved it did not take more Guild status to get through 30 than it does to get through 31-39

Thanks for the info, Ilmaaaaah. We pushed on through from level 30 to 31 (~280,000 guild xp), and sure enough, leveling form 31 to 32 is a breeze--my projection is about 67,500 to get from 31 to 32. So... seems SoE modified the guild level curve dramatically when they decided to raise the guild level from 30 to 60 over the course of a couple expansions... here is the data I have: (numbers are slightly rounded) 29 to 30----240,000 status 30 to 31----285,000 status 31 to 32-----67,500 status --Corgi
