Hello all =) First of all, I can't believe I have been playing WoW for so long when I have had EQ2 plus expansions just sitting here. I am enjoying EQ2 very very much. I have some more newb questions.

1. I did the tradeskill quests and chose Craftmanship from the three possible. It looks as if I can still make stuff from all the tradeskill types though. And when I talk to the work/rush order NPC's they say something like I need to specialize. Could someone be so kind as to explain what steps further I need to take to solidify what type of crafter I am? I am a level 11 crafter at the moment.

2. When I open up the Knowledge window and select the Tradeskill tab I notice a lot of different skills. Five pages worth so far. Are these all passive? If someone could explain how those work I would appreciate it.

3. In EQ1 my main was a druid for about 4 years. In WoW my main was a Rogue for about the last 2 years. I decided on a Monk and am enjoying it quite a bit. I was wondering what your thoughts are on the ability to Solo as a monk were. I also have a Dirge that I am playing with my wifes Warden. So my Monk is more my Alt that I play when we aren't playing together.

4. Even though I am only level 10 and have been of the Island for a short time I have seen quite a few high level players. I noticed their Armor doesn't look all that different from mine in regards to appearance. I have pretty much everything turned on and maxed out in the options. Am I missing some settings? Or is their just not very many different looks to armor as you level up? With my expereince in EQ1 and even more so in WoW, as you get more higher end loot your characters appearance changed quite a bit.

5. I noticed some Heroic mobs around level 10. A higher level came in and killed them. Does the higher level player still get loot or anything else from them?

6. When I hit level 10 the AA options opened up. I have since turned in quests and discovered a couple new areas. But no movement in my AA exp bar. Can someone explain how they work if possible?

Thanks much in advanced!

If someone could explain how those work I would appreciate it.

>Each of those is for a different set of skills. You should be familiar with at least 6 as they will be the ones you use the most. They get replaced now and then, I usually use the latest of each version available. Some expert crafters probably know better ways to handle this though. The 6 are broken into 2 groups: 3 durability buffs and 3 progress buffs. They have either a raw increase based on power, an increase with a chance at a decrease, and an increase by sacrificing the other. Look 'em over or check out the tradeskill forum for more details.

3. Can someone explain how they work if possible?

>This is a bit concerning. Do you have all the expansions? Usually, at lower levels, a couple location dings is all it takes to get your first AA.

Thanks much in advanced!

I am a level 11 crafter at the moment. You can still make any recipe <lvl 10. All lvl 10 and above recipes will be limited to furniture, provisions and woodworking items (cudgels, bows, staffs, totems, wood shields, ammo and some others) To be able to do the tradeskill writs you need to reach lvl 20 and further specialize into either a Provisioner (food/drink), Woodworker (wooden adventure items) or Carpenter (house items).

2. When I open up the Knowledge window and select the Tradeskill tab I notice a lot of different skills. Five pages worth so far. Are these all passive? If someone could explain how those work I would appreciate it. Many are artifacts of a bygone era. you will use a few of them from time to time, but mostly you will only use the 3 sets that are used by the three classes I mentioned above. Keep in mind you gained a new set of skills for each class when you dinged 10 that allow you to increase durability rather than progress. Use them to hone your crafting skills.

3. In EQ1 my main was a druid for about 4 years. In WoW my main was a Rogue for about the last 2 years. I decided on a Monk and am enjoying it quite a bit. So my Monk is more my Alt that I play when we aren't playing together. No direct experience with a monk but I hear that they solo just fine.

4. Or is their just not very many different looks to armor as you level up? With my expereince in EQ1 and even more so in WoW, as you get more higher end loot your characters appearance changed quite a bit. You wont see much of a difference until you reach the 50s. However, when you reach lvl 20 adv or tradeskill you get access to an appearance tab where you can equip whatever you like to cover you uber stat/unsightly gear.

5. I noticed some Heroic mobs around level 10. A higher level came in and killed them. Does the higher level player still get loot or anything else from them? As long as the mob doesn't con grey to them they can loot items from the mob. In general though, the more challenge, the better chances at a good metal chest drop.

6. When I hit level 10 the AA options opened up. I have since turned in quests and discovered a couple new areas. But no movement in my AA exp bar. Can someone explain how they work if possible? Some older zones don't give AA even when you discover them. Some city discoveries are considered <10 thus they won't give AA either. Some names in the old world zones also do not give AA. It's been an outstanding issue for a while, but the community has adapted and mostly hunt in the new world zones like Greater Faydark and Darklight Wood.

Thanks much in advanced!

Can someone explain how they work if possible?

Thanks much in advanced!

I'll try to answer these as best as I can...

1. Once you are level 19, you can talk to the person outside your crafting zone to specialize. Craftsmen can be Provisioner (food/drink), Carpenter (house items and patch kits I believe), and Woodworker (all other wood items such as weapons).

2. I refer to these as "crafting buffs" even though they are not really buffs. There are different ones for each class, pressing them increases duribility/progress depending on the one you press. You start out with only 3 for each crafting skill and at 10 you have 6 for each, 3 progress and 3 duribility.

3. My main is actually a 70 monk. I like the soloibility of the monk although they run out of power really fast if you don't keep your drink on (but what class doesn't? ). From what I've gathered from other peoples opinions the best soloing classes are Summoners (Conjurors and Necromancers) and Brawlers (Monks and Bruisers).

4. Depends how high you saw them. Armor doesn't really get different until T7 (Level 60+). I believe Domino (crafting dev) is going to change appearences in future Game Updates and with Rise of Kunark (don't quote me on this )

5. Not if they are 17 or higher. They could of been quest mobs and (s)he needed to finish a quest. But if mobs names are grey to you than they will not give any chest loot (but still body loot) or xp.

6. The areas have to be not in newbie zones (The Caves, Oakmyst Forest, The Ruins, Sunken City, or anywhere near the starting places of Kelethin/Neriak) or in cities. The quests have to be Level 10+ and not from any of those newbie zones as well, but they can be from the cities. You can gain AA from named mobs (usually heroic), exploring areas not in those zones, doing quests as described, looting status items for the first time, and some other things that I don't remember off the top of my head.

Hope this helped!

I can't thank all three of you enough for taking the time to share your knowledge. It is much appreciated. =)
