View Full Version : Wards drawing Mystic into combat...

Currently, when I attacked, and I try to ward myself, or if I see a threat and I pre-ward, when I am attacked, the ward draws me into combat and I cannot do anything.

What I'm trying to say is, I play on a PVP server, and I'm not against PVP. There are times though, that I'm questing or harvesting, or whatever, and am trying to avoid PVP. Yes, I realize the threat is still there, so I play defensively. Now, other healers can heal the damage they are receiving without being pulled into combat. A mystic's heals are too slow for this, so we rely on our wards as a defensive measure, although unfortunately, if we cast a ward, we are pulled into combat.

I don't feel this is fair, and I'd like to respectfully request this be looked into, or at least respectfully discussed. I'm not asking for any major nerf, just an ability to defend ourselves as a mystic, and not be pulled into combat every time.

Thanks for reading.

PVP Combat:

Anything you or anyone else does while under attack puts you in combat. Cast sprint, cast a pot, a totem, a cure, a heal (yes, it really does), a buff, a ward, a freakin' horse or carpet... running away from an attack is not an option. Fortunately the permanently-on mini ward isn't counted, otherwise we'd be truly messed up.

If you find a x4 of lvl 70s bearing down on you, the current system means you are pretty much going to die whether you ward or cast SOW or whatever. Fair? No, but only sadists pvp solo.

--

Chesty

Normal heals put you into combat, and has been that way for many many months

Pumice stones remove with pumice stones that remove wards & no defensive skills to speak of, I die. heck, I even spec'd out to have improved shield block with 8 pts into it, and it made no difference! the AA stuns are easily resisted because resists play no significant part in PVP! Heck, I simply started sitting down during fights, and typing /em thinks <insert comment here>. I'm gonna die I'm gonna have fun doing it, but nonetheless, I'd love to be able to duel someone one vs one, of the same level and come out on top once in a while... call me silly but it's a pipe dream!~

Hummm, see the Scourge thread for some thoughts on the Int line for pvp.

I'm 65 so at the moment I don't get many fair fights, hope to change that before ROK. When I do, I plan using spiked adornments on shoulders and buckler (shoulders are from Lyceum and have defence, buckler will hopefully be Badge of Service), the ring and BP from OoB and-in an ideal world- the chain helm from Hurricanus (Ancestry on myself will increase procs, so hopefully they should hurt lots), stifle belt from CoV, stifle gloves from Kaladim ring event, Stone of Nizara (again, Ancestry ftw) and probably swap between Scale Wrapped Baton for healer fights, Stormhammer for melee fights and possibly the stifle 2-hander from Unrest for mage fights, all with the essential phantom adornments. As my main is a swashy i'm a bit weapon-obsessive, and also want BSM and Vrak club for the big hits. I'd love to get the fear ring off Viludicae in Lyceum for the other ring slot, and also plan finding as much + disruption and + spell damage gear as possible to make Scourge hit harder and more often. Either Unrest cloak would be ideal, and Novum Tectum from CMM is on my list too. I'm maxed Agi and Int, Augmenting and Combat at the moment and i'm considering Str when ROK comes out for the interrupts.

FWIW My own KvD is only 3:1, with about 1.4k kills to 500 deaths, but my toon is a pvp alt and i'm usually solo whereas my opponents usually aren't Had I specced Int in lower tiers, the trouble I had with furies and mages back then would have been much lower.

Just my thoughts, anyway.

--

Rahael / Chesty LaRue
