Hi,topic says it all. Most PvP is imho in KOS and heres the problem:At the moment basically most fame fight ends with the (loosing) opponent cliffdiving, activating his/her parachute or cloak etc. and trying to get away as far as possible so that no one can get credit. Some land on isles below but most just float for 30 secs into the nothingness and some really "smart" guys minimize in addition. Its annoying in Solo PvP and ruins Group PvP.And dont come me with you can jump after them .. in most cases its pointless since they float as long as you with the same speed and a headstart and the chances are good that they get out of combat once u get to them and they re now under 50% health or they already died without you getting credit for them. Its a frigging lesser version of incombat evac combined with the cliffdiving problem we had when the floating devices/abilities werent out yet.Any Feedback ?BladesCaineVenekor

Throw a dagger at them. Any damage causes their parachute to 'break'. Problem solved.

NEEEEXT!

The ONLY thing wrong with throwing crap at them is if the minimize the screen it pretty much freezes them in place and u just leave it like that till the combat music is over and BAM no lose...the get away clean...even though soe claims this cant be done its BS i know it can i have tried it and got away clean no infamy lost.

this is why mmorpgs should not be minimizable while being played...

that and other third party programs...

and is also why games need built in voicechat - um, especially factionally based pvp games (since its so simple to xteam on vent)

The bard line offers a huge damage reduction add on to safe fall. Even if you make a fey stop gliding that may still kick in. Removing parachutes and glide woud do little to stop this behavior, they would just group up with a bard.

I do agree with you Green about the built in voice chat. Its soo much easier than typing, and if a console can do it with prety much any online game they have it should not be hard to code it into eq2. Imagine the convience of forming a party, you join party voice chat. Just one example of how it would improve this game.

I guess its a dirge thing, one of their EoF aa line will reduce damage taken when falling. I havn't really done much with the EoF tree yet so I stand corrected. As to the falling off the island thing. Not much anyone can do about that really, parachutes or no, one will eventually die. Honestly though if they want to damage their equipment to save their precious title let them.

Voicechat would be nice, but ventrillo is free to download...

its also free to xteam with.

edit> as well as minimalization of the game window or playing in windowed mode facilitates the easy use of other third party programs, some of which are outright hacks.

playing in windowed mode also creates ingame warping effects (this is fairly well known at this point, no need to be coy about it)

The server should do all the heavy lifting and keep track of positions, the client should just be an input/output program.

no it is a fact that vent can easily be used to xteam communicate during gameplay.

it is also a fact that if one could not minimize to windowed mode or to desktop that one could not possibly toggle third party programs running alongside the game (ie : hacks)

Yeah, make it so eq2 can't be windowed or minimized, Theres a really super duper good suggestion. /sarcasm.

Get real dude. How about suggest that they fix the lag created by minimizing... Eq2 is the only mmo I've played where minimizing does what it does here. Every other mmo that I've played it doesn't effect your ingame status at all.

But suggesting to make a game unwindowable/unminimizable is pretty silly, especially an MMO, for the sole purpose of making it not effect PvP on what 3 whole servers (run on sentences ftw). A type of game where no matter how smart/clever/unforgetful you are, you will use a 3rd party website to help with a quest/harvest item/whatever.

Ofcourse there is the ingame browser now which does help alot. However that does nothing for instant message programs and what not, that people like to use while playing these types of games.
