Ok, so can anyone give me some examples of decent non-bow ranged weapons? It seems like the focus in this game is entirely on bows for ranged damage, while slightly discouraging the use of other type of "missile" weapons.

I'm not necessarily talking T7 raid bows either. All throughout the tiers, the emphasis is on bows. I'm really trying to be steadfast in my usage of non-bow ranged weapons; especially on the characters which don't fit with a bow. For example, I only use shuriken on my Monk, only hammers on my Bruiser, and only knives on my Swashie. I know I am hurting myself DPS wise, and that is partly the source of my plea.

In addition to all this, I am going to reiterate the desire for crossbows. I did a forum search and could only find one thread specifically asking for crossbows which was dated this year, so consider this my vote for crossbows in EQ2. I know I am not alone in this. I can think of no better ranged weapon for a tank class. The high damage, high delay which I imagine a crossbow would have would be perfect for ranged pulls. Plus, just imagine a badass SK weilding an evil horned crossbow or something .

I do realize that everyone likes bows. They are easy to design and can fit a broad range of playstyles, but I just desire a little more variety (spice of life yadda yadda...). I guess I'll wait and see what RoK brings, but I'm not holding my breath.

I tried to get a decent throwing weapon, when 10% DPS adornments were only available to those. However the only useful ones I found in T7 were the bag from Unrest, player crafted or the reward of a later Claymore quest in the Ascent of the Awakened.

theres a fabled throwing weapon from Tarinax in deathtoll as well, he also drops a bow so hes pretty even, i believe its because most people dont use a bow except rangers except for pulls so they dont really put many other range items in game *shrug*

None of the 3 classes you mention are ranged fighters, so I fail to see your point.Leveling-wise, the tiers go so quickly it hardly even matters what you use, min-maxing is only really of benefit to raiders and presumably PvPers of all tiers, which you don't mention so I'm assuming you're not a PvPer.And if you are using your ranged weapons a lot of those 3 characters, instead of just initially for pulling maybe and for the one or 2 combat arts that use them, then it's not the weapons that are limiting your dps..

I feel better knowing that I'm not gimping my characters as much as I had initially assumed. To be honest, none of the above listed toons is very high level (T4-ish). And you are correct that none of them are specifically designed for ranged combat. I just kind of feel disappointed when grouping/questing and I see that "uber" bow drop, and I can't really use it unless I change my playstyle (at least as far as the swashie is concerned).

No, I'm not on PvP, and Min-Maxing has never really been my top priority. Just the same, I like to feel like I do everything I can within reason to be the best I can at my class. My dps otherwise on those guys is actually pretty decent, I just always want more .

Thanks for the input everyone.
