Hey All - Anyone gotten either or both of the new caster neck pieces off of the x2 epics in Shard of Fear and tested them out yet? Wondered how good they are and if they work with other items or not.

What neck pieces are we talking about?  Amulet of Necropotence..    Hard to pass up 40INT and 100 Spell Damage.  This is what I use now.  Plus I get to look cool.Bloodthirsty Choker...    Use with caution. 10% damage increase all the time is massive, but 20 spells and you're a non-spell casting corpse. Not great for raids or anything that you run the risk of getting AE'd on. Best suited for casters with pocket healers, or classes like necromancer who might be able to mitigate the damage with lifetaps. Reducing your hp proportionately will lower the overall amount of damage taken could make this one monster of an item, but at the hightened risk to our already low survivability.

Those are them! I was thinking with some points in some of our AA wards that the Bloodthirsty Chocker might not be so bad. Question is do that damage increase stack with others and is it just base damage or what?

<p>It stacks with other damage increaser procs as it has a different name for the effect.  Which is why orb of the dark mind and the WoCP do not stack , both are called plasma amplification.</p><p>And I agree totally with the ward AAs , if you max them both at level 70 ward fo sages 354, magi shielding 534 for a total of 888 wardage, this shoudl allow you to pop off 5-6 spells before you even take any damage given that the average wizzy has 5k health adn does 20 spells/minute or one every 3 seconds, since the wards regen every 6 seconds by a certain %, cant remember off the top of my head.</p><p>Wizzy is probably the best suited caster to use the item all the time due to slow casting and ward AAs, a agi specced chanter is by far the worst choice as is an abate specced conj not far behind. We edge out warlocks in the fact that on AoEs each target causes a health hit and we also get enhance magi shielding.</p><p>I cant wait to get one to freak out my healer in raids.</p>

So the other question then is Will the wards stop the damage? Because I know they don't prevent the damage from any of the cannibalize type effects.

Yes, wards work to mitigate the damage.<div></div><div>So.</div><div></div><div>Enspelled Vultak Eye</div><div>Robe of Forgotten Dreams/GoG</div><div>Ward of Sages</div><div></div><div>Etc are all your friend.</div><div></div><div>The +10% damage is greater than +100 spell damage for Wizards.</div>
