Hallo,

I just startted using the melee AA abilities instead of the range spells. I noticed my damage goes up a little bit each level. If I decide to just get the app1 range attack spells and not upgrade them, does it affect the amount of dmg I do if I'm only using the melee spells?

In other words, if I only use my melee abilities, is there a reason to upgrade the range spells?

Thanks,

Dage

Your AA combat arts and the spells that they replace are different. Upgrading one does not affect the other.I haven't bothered upgrading my spells, but I see relatively cheap masters around so I keep considering it. At the moment I just don't use the spells at all (they are not on my hotbars). That said, the combat arts have no range, so if you want to do damage from range (such as when you are healing in a group) you might want to keep the spells around. Remember that if you do want to use spells, you are going to want a buffed up INT, while the CAs use a combination of INT/STR (I get along fine with very low INT and high STR).

I am a melee Mystic and most of the times I do stand toe to toe along side my tank. Now my personal advice. Upgrade the range spells, and place them on an alternative hot bar so you can just shift over to them. a perfect example why is shard of Fear. There is a mob in there called a Fetid Fiend. The little bleeder does a aoe stun. I f you are anywhere near it when it goes off, your tank has a good chance of pushing daisies before the stun wears off. At this time step back and dot and nuke from a distance. that way when she/he/it is stunned you can cure without the chance of you yourself getting pasted all over the place.

Unless you find the upgrades very cheap, I too, would ignore spells if you have their combat art equivalent. For range I always use debuffs anyway.
