Every time I press play and the zone loads i get the following error:Everquest has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown<verify> E:liveeq2frameworkcoreutilsrcFiler.cpp (1486)iOpenPakResult == 0, error: 0, open files 81I try to run a full file scan and every time it download CharB1.vpk.... finishes downloading it but the Tab never changes from Updating to Play.I skip Launchpad and try to login directly, same Fatal Error problem.Game is unplayable right now because of this. What's going on?

There seems to be another problem here. Reading other posts about files that keep being downloaded over and over again and how to deal with them, I went into my EQ2/pak directory to delete the file in question which was:Char_B1.vpk.I then found out that the file can't be deleted. In fact, when I select it the computer hangs and I get a "not responding" message every time.I've no idea how I can delete this file, but there's definitely something wrong with it.Something else worries me about this. Just about the time when EQ2 started crashing as per above, my antivirus program CA antivirus gives me a message that Real-Time Protection and Email Protection are off and need to be enabled, but when I try to update and get the necessary downloads, it gives me an error message telling me download failed.Any suggestions? Am I dealing with a virus here?

quite possibly a virus yes. but without actually looking at the computer i could not tell you any more than that.

as for the file being undeletable, have you tried checking the permissions on the file, specifically if it has ONLY read priviledges, and not read/write privledges? if it is read only, that could be why it is undeleteable, but i doubt it.

if its on read only, then the patcher may also have a problem patching it too.

from the description would lean more towards a sector failure on the hard drive, if it was just read only the message would return that it is set to read only, with the not responding it is stalling out. Would suggest a full scandisk on the drive to check it. Open windows explorer, click on the root drive in question, right click, select properties, then tools, can;t rememeber if it is called scan disk or check for errors in 2k/xp, but in vista it is called Error-Checking. If this is the boot drive it may tell you that it has to schedule it for the next boot, in that case you need to restart and let it check the drive.

***CAUTION*** Have seen this cause a failure on a drive that was borderline, make sure you have a good backup of your critical files *******

I'm getting this same error (or very similar: E:liveeq2frameworkcoreutilsrcFiler.cpp (1486): iOpenPakResult == 0, error: 2, open files: 41) and I know this has nothing to do with my drive. See, my E: drive is my DVD drive, and is not in use during EQ2 play. To verify this, I physically disconnected it, and made sure there was no E: drive assigned. This error still came up.My issue happens while I'm playing the game, however and not during file check / download.
