Why is it that all heavy fugfhters are completely covered head to toe in plate armor?

I can understand a Guardian or Knight; but why are all toons covered head to toe?

Why do we have to option of adding diff woads at character creation? There just gonna be covered up.

I could post zillions of pics of actual historical warriors/Fighters, but why bother somone is gonna come back with the its a fantasy game comment. Take a look at the pic below designer's. This should give you an idea of how to make the armor in this game look great and accurate at the same time.

The people of that era wore that amount of armour not due to chosing freedom of movement or asthetics, but simple that plate armours had not been developed yet. They have in Norrath.

Plate armours of a few centuries on would be more effective than of those dark ages. If Norrath had armour akin to our dark ages, then it should follow they'd be less effective than the plate armours we have in-game now. And we kinda do, there's chain armours with a modicum of plate on them that provide less mitigation than the vanguard sets.

Regardless, a bit of variety would still be nice eh. If only for the appearance tab.

I would like to start by saying I would love to see more armor veriaty. That said Greak and Roman style armor would not fit in this game for a number of reasons first and formost the styling of the armor is just too differant, and second like the above poster said there is already better more advanced styles of armer available why would they go back.

Am I the only one who realizes that this armor is not actually real armor and and just a graphic depiction of it? As it is, with these appearance slots we have folks fighting in evening gowns and I'm not buying they are wearing an evening gown over their plate. So realism has already gone south, how about something different instead of the same old plate graphic they've been using for 3 years.
