I am a newly dinged level 70 guard who spends most of my questing or running through instances. If I find myself on a raid it is more luck than anything. What I am looking for a quick round up of decent quested items 65+ for a guard.

Thank you in advance.

Those two quest lines require raiding towards the end, and I don't know if it falls under the 'casual player' definition.Speaking from experience, and since my guild doesn't raid at all, it took me 6 months to finish claymore and still working on 2nd chapter of SoD.I would look into some 'easier' quests from EoF, such as: The League quests, and maybe try to get a full set of plate gear from EoF instances. If you've taken DPS line of AAs, then there's a good buckler that drops in Unrest and some decent weapons as well.Just my opinion and suggestions.

I would say wait 3 weeks for the release of RoK and then work through Tier 8. What essential gear we will be able to acquire then is part of the future though

SoD is great for a group because you can only perform the heroic part and ignore the upgradestep for faibled if you do not have access to a raid. Thats a good change in questdesign for non-raiders to get a good item. I appreciate this.

Go for the Cloak of Flames. It is a nice haste item and a cloak...not much better for that slot and it frees up your Hand slot or whatever slot you had a haste item in for better stats. It is about half solo half group. Make sure you have your Manastone and Fishbone earring also...even though they are not high level quests they are valuable items. SoD and Claymore aren't necessary, they are nice but you are not going to be hurt by not having them. I raid often and do not have them finished. I don't even have MOA finished. If you like questing then going for the legendary SoD item may be for you. In a month there will probably be a better weapon to work toward...like your epic. I would spend time trying to get your legendary EoF set before the expansion.
