Baby pvp Defiler, lvl 24. Almost always grouped.

So here's what I try to do when I get jumped.

1. Emergency Ward on whoever is getting tagged (more often than not the mage; have a macro set for that)

2. Get the group ward off

3. try to get a couple off debuffs off and send in dogdog (have macro for this)

4. single ward whoever is being attacked

5. start poking things with my spear

My question is: what would you uber-shamen change, add, remove, or shift in this list. By the time I start #5 things have either turned into a running battle or I'm dead. Is there a better system? Which debuffs (if any) would you try to get off first?

Hesseal, 24 Defiler of Venekor

first.... get rid of dogdog. Unless you have the str line maxed, dogdog is pointless in pvp and can only hurt you. The reason I say that is because aoes will hit him, and if you have a group ward up, his pathetic defense will insure that the ward is eaten up trying to keep him alive.

I personally never lead off with an emergency ward unless I have no other choice. It should be just that, an emergency thing. Try your best (if you know your about to face pvp combat) to group ward before it starts. In addiction to warding, remember defiliers have the most powerful direct heals in the game, use them!!

I am personally a very big fan of scourge (if you have it)... for max effectiveness, wait for whoever your group is attacking to have a number of heals stacked on him/her, then scourge and you will most likely drop them.

4th and last point; while your main job is to heal, rememeber you have other abilities, including some nice dots, make sure to maximize your characters protential.

P.S. One thing i have found that really helps in bad situations, run into the middle of the enemy group and aoe fear. It gives your group a few seconds of precious repreive.

Agree...get rid of the Dog when out in the wild pvping. Cast him when you get into an instance. Not only does he eat up valuable resources (as Splintered said) he's a big ol' neon sign. You can save the enemy time by naming your dog "KillmefirstImthehealer". Plus if you are invising anywhere, he's out there telling 'em to take a closer look, you guys are there somewhere.

If you are fighting people who are taking your mage out first, you are lucky, and they are stupid. They deserve to die (unless he's a warlock........)

Only drop your emergency ward if you have for some reason been kept from casting your regular one. If your group has the jump on the bad guys, you should be fine. If you are jumped..same thing..use the emergency one only if you have been stunned and need an insta cast.

The name of the game as a pvp defiler is to make them work to discover that you are the healer. If you have the dog out, they can target you instantly (Your name is on the dog..) and you will be behind the curve from the start. Let them think you are a Troub or something. Make them find out too late that you are the one keeping everyone alive.

thank you for the responses. should i also try to disguise my defiler-ness by using a weapon other than a spear or is it not worth the effort? Hessael, 25 defiler of Venekor

I'll be inclined to agree, my filer is solo right now. He started pwning face at lvl 17 and now hes lvl 20 on naggy.AOE fear is your best friend, unlike that ward it does not take 15 mins to recast (10 with AA i think). It takes a mere 5 mins, or 2:30 if AA. When you start off a fight, if you have your wonderful root you should pop a root on one of the scouts, then just begin casting group ward then hammer down hard on DPS. You might think that just b/c ur a healer you need to heal but from what i've seen, solo and grouped, I usually focus on DPS for about 90% of the fight and maybe cast a ward or two.I also second (or is it third?) the get rid of the dog, not only is he a neon sign, he sux like they said and will waste lots of group ward. Once u get into T4 (if u arent 'perma locked) warlocks and fury starbursts will destroy your ward if dog is up unless of course u have teh STR line maxed (with endline). One last thing - if you ARE going to max STR line... spend the AA elsewhere until you CAN max it otherwise you will be penalized until you can get the endline and remove dogdog from AOE. Once u do.. just respec.

Well tbh anyone thats been around a while can pick out what class you are, or have an idea, just by looking at what buffs you have up.

Here is what i do

Blast off my Emergency wards which get chewed thru in 3 or 4 seconds .. long enough for me to attack once

then while i start to ward myself .. im interupted .. then it auto retries and im interupted

then im in the orange.. so i try to fear him .. its resisted.. then im knocked back and killed.

Or

Sometimes im just . tripple shot .. quick shot poison prock crushing dead ..

but the best are

mezzed covered in dots .. interupted .. interupted .. heal dead.

Defilers are a joke in PvP .. a total and complete joke .. the best you can hope for is to be the 2nd healer in a PvP grp

when group members are taking damage .. your grp healing sucks , the long cast time coupled with interupts make your healing weak .

most defilers can watch a group member go from yellow to dead before casting a heal on them.

No other healer sufferes as much from being taunted or interupted as shamen do.

That and they have no PvP benefit... A druid or a cleric are better choices ...

Do yourself a favor .. dont expect to have any succes in PvP at all with a defiler .. they suck at it .. .

I have tried ... i use him for raids only .. im goin back to my warden .. a class desired by groups .. and with PvP skill ...

Defiler = Waste of Time in PvP

I hate to say I have to agree with Kanna. Defiler is in a pretty bad state in T8 pvp.

Locus, 73 Defiler - Nagafen
