You should post server-specific stuff on the corresponding server's Forum.

I don't understand what everyone's big gripe is.

I bought EQ2 when it came out. I played for all of a month, then quit. I came back 2-3 weeks ago to try out the PvP. I say that just to show that I know next to nothing about the game.

I have played my toon now around 20 total hours. 15 brig / 20 armor with 12 AAs. Without buying plat, in that time, I have crafted MC gear (major armor slots and weapons), and have upgraded a number of spells to AD3, and gotten my slayer title.

I don't know any other game where you could spend only 20 hours and accomplish all of that, and be competitive in PvP for your group.

For those whining about twinking, if a person can do it in under 20 hours that has zero concept of game mechanics, or how things work, what is there to whine about? I can't picture anything "less hardcore" than that.

The guy shows you it can be done, and your sole response is sarcasm? Do you even play on the server? You seem to be aware of all of the issues with PvP, but when somebody actually does succeed at it, your first response is to rub dirt in their face? That is pretty poor sportsmanship.

To the original poster, yes, it's still a gankfest at T2. But it gets better at T3. A blast at T4. Better on all the way up. Except for T7 at Barren Sky. I'll run there with a group, but I'll also say that it's not my first choice. Nor even my fifth. Although it is funny watching a General run and jump off the islands when the group he was stalking turns and runs him down.

Xeneros, well done. I've seen other brand new players on this board proclaiming their uber t2 survivability giving much more realistic figures, such as several weeks.

On the one character I actually geared up for T2, it took me almost a week of playtime after work, which equated to about four hours a night, to harvest enough t2 rares for an mc set, weapons, and adepts..and that was with no actual playing..so close to 20 hours in just harvesting alone. I've done the same for t3 in Zarvonn's in around four to six hours, and that's a repeatable crafting zone with nodes a few feet apart.

With a little help and guidance, it can easily be done. I have no problem pulling about a dozen rares in T2 an hour, but that's with a 70, but if you don't mind dying it can be done at half that rate. Blackened Iron has come down quite a bit in price, so selling 5 silver and coral clusters to afford 1 BIC isn't a bad tradeoff.

You know, I asked about this over on Venekor. I was considering transfering one of my toons over to Naggy so I could get into more twinked groups because as it is most groups that invite me have all noob gear on. A few people who play on both servers told me not to bother; they said that Naggy was full of greedy people and twinked out raid groups.

Don't flame me --- I'm just reporting on what they told me. Are they wrong?

Errrr ... couldn't tell you, honestly, about what the twink groups are like to run with, aside from having been on the receiving end of more than a few "what the eff wuzzat?!?!" clobberings. I have a couple of them (twinks) stationed at a couple of places, but they only come out for home territory defense. Otherwise they're used for tradeskilling.Same lack of experience dealing with greedy folks. I mean, sure, there are some greedy players, but a lot more that behave maturely. But why transfer over, if you're going to lock at T2? You can do it very quickly. Moreso if you've got somebody already over here that you know, to help hook you up, and there are a lot of people that transfered over. * Oh, duh, sorry, was trying to take care of a couple of things while posting. You meant greedy as in harvesting? I think? If so, there's some, like anywhere else, but you'll likely run into more of the other faction farming than your own.

Total play time: 1 day, 1 hour, 46 minutes. I played for ~4 hours last night finishing up leveling all my harvesting skills to T3 capability, then finished my T3 harvesting quest in TS for the free advanced armorsmithing book, and then went back and vendored everything I had gathered that I didn't use.

I played this game to 21 with a defiler and 20 with a guardian when it FIRST came out, then bailed because I didn't enjoy it (I'm much more for PvP in games than anything else).

I started out in neriak. Leveling to 9 took all of no time. I locked. I then went around gathering, and finishing as many quests as I could. I leveled up my armorsmithing to ~15 (had a full crafted set good to go for when I dinged). I made a ton of backpacks. I bought the rare T1 pelts for coppers, and turned them into 8 slot backpacks which I sold for gold. I found a pristine BI dirk up for 5g which I imbued and kept. I found a couple of other little things like that, and made some money there. I sold off the rares I collected. I then went and turned in all of my quests. I unlocked and leveled quickly to 14, and locked again. I picked my way across butcherblock without a map (just the EQMap mod), and not knowing where I was going. I went to GFay, and did quests there while killing. I got slayer in one night of playing. Wasn't hard, even with only a few slots of MC. I killed anything that conned within my range (healing classes suck without WoW castbar alerts... No way to time interrupts).

Since then, I filled out the rest of my main armor slots with BI iron. I have already collected 2 T3 rares to make MC gear with. I have 1p on my toon, and about 50g worth of crap on the broker.

I'm still not the best around. I am not COMPLETELY decked out in MC / Masters skills (I have no masters skills, just some AD3 and the rest AD1). However, I AM able to compete. Those people wishing to jump right in and be able to beat anyone need to get a life. Those wishing to jump right in and be COMPETITIVE... it is completely possible with the way things are.

The brig even mailed the necro gold so I had money to buy the rare books to craft the spells.

EVEN taking into account those extra 12 hours of play time, that is STILL only a day and a half played. If you're citing having two level 20 characters as having experience with the game, you're [Removed for Content] nuts, not even taking into consideration that when I leveled them, there were no expansions or even adventuer packs. You started out with one of four base classes, and then moved on. The game is nothing now like it used to be.

You can [Removed for Content] and moan all you want, but the fact remains that if someone can come in with a little knowledge of the game (I'll even give you that, not saying "none" ) and play well, then the rest of you that are whining about it are either lazy or just plain bad.

Don't get all defensive Xeneros, I just call it as I see it. You made a claim, provided a link to your character history, and it turns out that your claim isn't exactly true. Point still stands that brand new players don't have the experience going in that you had, dont' know where to go, what to farm or what to even make. All they know is that they're getting constantly ganked by characters that, to them, are virtually invulnerable. Because of t2 twinked level locking pvp, higher tier pvp and new player pvp is stagnating.
