Ability upgrade question

I read on EQ2i that for spell upgrades, shadowknights need soft metals, while for CA upgrades, they need loams. Is the soft metal part true, made up, or just outdated?

Loams only to make spells and CAs.

Shadow knight Combat arts and spells are made by Alchemists. Alchemists generally need Loams as part of their recipies.

Thanks. I have been gone a while, so I wanted to make sure. Sure would be embarrassing to send a bunch of rare loams and find out you need metals.
