I just got disconnected while trying to switch my character, and i got a message saying (incorrect password for this account), and after that i got booted to my desktop, i tryed to log back, but when i try to log in i get this message from the launcer "Error.TheOperation timed out."

Hi,i get the same error message here. i cannot login the launchpad and also cannot log in the forums or any other application on the SOE homepage with my main account. I can only use this account and with this, everything is ok.please check this problems, seems that many other ppl on venekor got the same problem(but i dont think that this is a server problem).

My boyfriend has a problem with his account. He tried to zone from Mara to Nek Forest, met a black screen and finally an 'incorrect password' notice.On trying to log back in with launcher, he gets the message 'operation timed out'.If he tries to log in to eq2players he gets redirected to an authentication page stating:<span style="font-size: medium;">CAS is Unavailable<span style="font-size: small;">A general exception occurred while trying to access CAS. Please notify your system administrator.</span></span>I can log in to two other different accounts on the SAME computer, so it isn't a seperate general error at our end.What is going on?

Ahh.... I just made a post about this since my boyfriend has same trouble with his account.Seems like only people who will be able to post here are ones with 2nd accounts too, so must be a big problem going on <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Some authentication error everytime he tries to log in from launcher or eq2players etc etc

I can get logged in here with all my accounts, but cannot get logged in to the EQ 1 forums nor Vanguard forums. Have nto tried the games yet though

I was luckily logged with my main account on the forums, so i havent to use a second one, well let's hope to get a fast response.

Same here. My husband tried logging in to his account and got the Error operation timed out.  Tried logging in to account management and got this "Error Code: error.authentication.retrieval.fail". Reset password. Tried logging in again to account management to change password using the temp pass. Received the same error. Tried logging into the game with old pass, got incorrect username/password. Tried temp pass, got Error operation timed out. Loving that phone support is not available on weekends. Does anyone know if the boards are monitored on weekends? Nothing worse then a ticked off husband who can't get on EQ2. lol

What the problem looks like  is when ever anyone trys to log into the game for the 1st time today, they info is lost/stolen/wiped.  But for those that have two account and then try it a second time, it works fine.  Like Leylani, she tryed to log her 2nd account 1st so it go messed up and she logged her main account 2nd, so it's fine.  Just my theory.

It seems a lot of people are having problems logging into the game with the same error.  Guess we'll have to hope they fix it soon.

Got the error and booted out whilst zoning from GFay to New Tunaria. Have tried main account since and it's till working.

I am having the same issue on my main account.  I had to log on with my boyfriends account just to post this message.  When I try to log onto the forums with my station name, its says name or password is invalid.  When I try to sign into EQ2, I get an operation timed out.  And yes... I to love the fact that phone support is unavailable on weekends =(

I have 2 accounts and both can't log onto the forums, even created a third account and can't get that one in either. This is 1 of my hubby's 2 accounts, his other 1 couldn't log on either...so even people with 2 accounts aren't able to get in the forums.

I also got numbers in my password.But:my main acc name starts with a "B" and i was dropped out of game and also a other person who got a "B" in the beginning of the account name.Anyone else account starts with "b"?

I'm afraid to try to log in with my second account because that info might get lost/stolen what ever is going on.  I emailed my friends and told them not to try to log in.  And if your are having a proplem right now...like everyone I woudl sugguest dont' try to change your passwords or usernames.  Then things might get really ugly for you when they get this somewhat resolved.

I cannot log in on my account either, nor can I access Station Players, this is my husbands account which does still work for both the game and obviously here too.I was playing away quite happily until I tried to /camp to another of my toons.  There was something odd shortly before that though...a strange box with clickable buttons, progress bars and lots of numbers...options that seemed to involve tradeskill stuff and Yell!. *shrug*

Some of them have numbers in login/pw, some of them don't. They all start with different letters of the alph. So IMO, I don't think that numbers or letters have anything to do with it.

same problem here, Runnyeye server most of our raid cant log in, went ld zonning and now times out when trying to log in, reboot pc get some fail message on forum and on launcher, reset password incorrect pw and username....what a total crock of crap. Bad enough Im STILL waiting for a responce on a ticket for character transfer for past 3-4 days , now i cant even log in

Ive tried to retrieve another password from the site but I get an error for that too and havent received none in my e mail.</p><p>Strangely enough, I am able to log in both into the game and in the forums/account on this, my secondary account.</p><p>Is it something that is happening to more people, some kind of internal error, or is there something wrong with my account? My husband is getting the same thing.  He was zoning and got the black screen.  He tried to log into his account at EQ2players.com and it says <li>Error Code: error.authentication.retrieval.fail </li><p>He gets that CAS error when trying to log into the support section.  Any idea what's going on?  </p>

I'm having this issue as well on my other account. I'm not too happy with the Customer Service that SOE has. In my book it gets worse and worse. Their motto seems to be... "How little can we do and still keep the money coming in?"I thought the goal was to maintain and increase subscriptions. Grumble grumble....Shailyn... I'm Chaylynn on my other account and in EQ before I came here. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I like the way you spell yours better!!!Is it fixed yet?

This has happened to me also. I'm loged on my 2nd acct to post this. Im on the butcherblock server. I really hope someone fixes this soon. I am unable to use that acct's info to log on the game or the boards. But isnt it so nice that i get to watch the LoN spam about Touraments when i cant even log on. SoE needs to get on the ball on this. I mean a lot of people 2box and are able to post about this  but what about the hundreds that dont? <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/0320a00cb4bb5629ab9fc2bc1fcc4e9e.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

The problem with logging into accounts seems to be account specific.I have 3 accounts.  One of my accounts currently cant log in.A friend of mine has two accounts, and she cant log in with either.And, apparently, if you cant log in to your eq2 account.  YOu cant log into the forums or <cough> your beta account.

As frustrated as we have been in this household, it is helpful to know others are having similar problems.  My account works fine, but both my sister and her husband's accounts also give the "operation timed out failure", and they get authentication failures when trying to log into station.com.We were afraid their accounts had been banned (with no apparent reason for it) since all access to anything SoE-related had been stripped... but it sounds like SoE may be having trouble with their account/password authentication servers(?).

This is my speculation.  It has to do with accounts that the password do not have a digit in them.  They changed the password requirments awhile ago.  I have 7 accounts, 3 I made before the password requirment (hence has no digit in the password) and 4 that I have made post password requirment change.  Right now the 3 effected accounts are the ones with no digit in there passwords.  I also get the difference on the password reset screen in the failed attempt.  No phone support on the weekends (even limited hours would be acceptable) is crappy.  I am now about to email tech support.  Good luck to us.

I have digits in both my user name and password. The only thing I can think of on my other account is that the billing expired. Normally one would get an option to renew through the installer but for whatever reason its timing out and as well the name is showing in valid when one tries to log into the My Account on Station.com or whereever. This is a bad thing. Even if an account is unsubscribed we should be able to log into My Account as that contains subscription and account details.

<p>ok...  so far, the pattern seems to be...  (for multiple account holders)</p><p>the first account you choose gets locked.  you can log in with your 2nd, 3rd or 4th (or however many) I've tried logging in with my secondary (this one) and it works just fine.</p><p>DaemonPsiber (this account) is my secondary.  My main is PsiberDaemon (yeah, I know, REAL original LOL) ...  both have the same letters and #s in the password, just arranged differently, both have EXACTLY the same Billing Information.</p><p>Both have different toons on different servers.  I don't think it goes that far though.  I think it's the registration server.  I've tried accessing the game through Launchpad and directly by running the client from the folder.  Launchpad gives me a timeout, game client says invalid password.</p><p>Tried accessing EQ1, getting the same error.</p><p>I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the recent modifications they did to the registration servers (the long downtime before the latest GU)</p><p>Network Status page won't load, I figure that's probably due to everyone trying to find out what's going on...</p><p>I feel sorry for the people with only 1 account, but hopefully they can browse these forums as 'guest' and see that it's not just restricted to their computers...</p>

<p>I just had same problem.Was logged into screen select tried to zone it then had failed to connect message.I then try to patch game and got operation timed out message.</p><p>I then tried the accounts part to see if subs run out and i had no luck logging onto that either so worried that my account may have been hacked i reset password and still no luck.I cant even log on the forums with the account as it wont accept new password.</p><p>EDIT i can still log on to eq2 with other account no probs so its not my pc.Just that account.</p>

I am using his account to post this message and I am using the same computer that won't let me log-on to the forums or EQ2. We use the same password so that is not the issue. I doubt our name has anything to do with it since they are the same. We did use two different card numbers for our game accounts but they are for the same bank account so probably not the problem. </p><p>W. A. Guess: Some of the authentication servers are corrupted/hacked to allow unauthorized use of the data. IIts most likely a broken server but...... Another games have it also 24/7 Wingrider. It's not something impossible, and is like it should be, they servers are open 24/7, so they should have people monitoring it 24/7.

And honestly, this is SONY, one of the largest companies in the world, they CAN afford this, they CAN do this, they choose not to. Thankfully the DEV team, once contacted, usually gets things fixed within a couple of hours, but that always seems to hinge on someone pming a DEV or something.</p>

I would be surprised if outside people not employed by your company would have access to a phone number that goes directly into your Operations center

It doesnt appear to be server related, but rather it is account related.  From what Im hearing from friends, it looks like about 50% of  all soe accounts are down and out.

I had this (or a very similar) issue a while back. If youa re stubborn enough, you might be able to log in on the account anyway. talking to soem CS fixed my issue in like 5 minutes.

My wife is getting this same issue.  Our accounts are the same in age and prolly about 3-4 years old.  Started them right around when it came out.  I logged in first this morning and was able to log right in, but when she tried to log on she got this error.  On top of all this we thought maybe it was a password issue and she went to reset her password and now has a funky password that she can't change.  So now we are [Removed for Content] cause we only get to play on weekends and now she can't play today until they fix this error.  I really hope they fix it today (even though they only work on week days).  I just hope it doesn't happen to our friends accounts as well.

Just to add numbers.My account works fine, but wife's got the "OT" error.I run a small company with 200 employees, and we provide security services. And i got 24/7 support on my company.I think SOE can afford that too.At least afford someone to remotely post "hey we are working on the issue, we hope to have it solved shortly" and then get back on turning the steaks on the grill. Sorry, im not usually a "complaint" person, i understand that machines get broken, and software can (and usually will) fail. I know that there are "bad" days when then secondary server and the backup one come down too.But when you sell a product to millons of people arround the globe, and your product is used 24/7, then you need to give those people some light in the darkness. Just that. So I tried it on another PC and times out again. I tried logging in through the website and it gave me another error (basically saying invalid account). I sent a petition on this account. Tried to find a contact number or email address. Then came here and found 3 or 4 threads on the same issue. As it stands I'm able to log in with this account but not my primary account. I see no real resolution and see nothing to indicate that SOE is working towards a resolution. I've had no response from the petition and seen nothing from any techs in here to indicate to me that SOE wants this issue resolved or wants to help the customer. Now does that mean they aren't? Probably not, I'm sure someone is trying to figure out where they screwed up. Yes, I'm impatient. I pay for my time and expect to be able to play when I have time to play.

Many on Oasis are having the same problem, so it is going across all the servers, and it is quite a pain.  I had just dinged my assy to 62 and was going to nek, and it god DC'd.  I cannot play my Inq either which sucks.

A lot of people get Sunday's off, I doubt SoE are an exception.</p><p>All I can suggest is go and have a nice Sunday Dinner(Yorkshire Puddings, Roast Beef and Broccolli, yum!) and try again afterwards.</p><p>*Happily patient and calm...but only 'cause she's happily diverted by another game right now* ^_^</p>

<p>Adding to the list.....</p><p>we have 8 accounts:  3 work, 3 get the error operation timed out, 2 simply say password can't be authenticated.  For the forums, several of them get the CAS unavailable error.  I can't find any correlation to account age or any other pattern to what does and doesn't work.</p>

I am getting the same message on one of my three accounts.I have now tried six times to submit a report or request through your Support pages only to have it say submission failed cause I did not include an e-mail address or a sub-categore and to click the back button. When I click the back button, the page where it asked me for e-mail address, does not even have a field for an e-mail address!And, when I click back button to correct the sub category one, the <Continue...> remains grayed out so I cannot re-submit it!The problem itself is bad enough, but having the inability to report it at all, despite six different attempts, is maddening to say the least.Please A) fix the log in problem and B) look and and address the problems on your support site for submitting reports and requests for customer service.B), above, has me mad enough to eat nails.

I am having same problem. Played till about 1 am last night , then got operation time out this morning. I even tried re setting my password an just got error.authentication.retrieval.fail. So now I dont know what to do. Im pretty [Removed for Content] off, nice day to play, no work, nothing, now i have to find something else to entertain myself with. I cant log into my station account either, i had to use my husbands just to post.

I do like all the different theories y'all come up with.  "passwords with no numbers", "first account logged in', no wait "last account logged in".  How can you possibly form any sort of theory based on one or two accounts?I logged in last night.  I logged in this morning.  All 3 accounts working fine. Went ld zoning on one acct and haven't been able to get back in since.  I'm sorry I can't float a cool theory about it.Same for a guildy of mine, 1 acct dead, other acct working fine.  Very annoying stuff.Other people are logging in left and right with 0 problems.But fortunately the system messages with LON spam are working fine.  Thank god for that!

I am also posting from my husband's account, as mine will not log in.Features of my account:1) Age: I carried over my EQ1 account to EQ2 (they had the option when the game first launched.)  That makes my account about 7 years old.  2) My password has no numbers.3) We technically own two accounts, one for my husband, and one for myself.  My husband is fine.  I cannot log in either to the forums or to the game itself.  I get the timeout error.Sigh!

<p>Was playing main account decided to change toon, then got booted to desktop. tried to log in and got the error. decided to see if this was account or EQ2 tried to log into vangaurd as I have the all access and guess what.. yup same error. Girlfriends account seems dead in the water as well.I am pretty sure this is not an issue with what your password contains, or in what order the accounts were logged in. More like either a database gone foul, or one of the servers in the login server farm is on fire, or about to go on fire. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> someone may also have turned off the ACs in the server housing (more common than you'd think) which will probably result in a fwe hours downtime and restoration.

I'm getting the same error too... It seems something happened and people who zoned while this was going on were kicked out and the system won't allow those people to log back on. This has been happening since the big upgrade a couple of weeks ago...... when are they gonna fix it? why do these things happen on weekends? grr

<p>The GM response was comical at best, however, he/she did respond.  (One would think the supervisors would check the cut & paste response for syntax and spelling.) </p><p>This issue has nothing to do with what ISP you have, what your password is, or the phase of the moon...this is obviously a server and/or data base issue.</p><p>That SOE doesn't have support 24/7 is ridiculous in the extreme and really shows how little they care.</p><p>I can't log onto my main account but I can still receive spam and LoN crud.</p><p>I really thought I got banned for filing (another) /bug report for all the LoN spam.</p><p>I wish I could blow off my customers on the weekend, but I'm simply not a large enough company.</p><p>How about rousting someone out of bed to at least address your paying customers?</p>

I got the same message last night. I assumed that my subscription just didn't auto-renew. So I went to manually renew it. Wouldn't take a monthly $15/month subscription.. so out of curiosity, I tried a Station Pass.$30 later I was able to login to my account. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

This just started this morning.Logging into the forums or EQ2Players site with the main account returns the errors described above by other players... when I go through support links and try to log in - I get redirected to:</p><p> <a href="https://secure.station.sony.com/cas/login?service=https%3A%2F%2Fsecure.station.sony.co m%2Femailupdate%2Fj_acegi_cas_security_check&theme=station&locale=en_US" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://secure.station.sony.com/cas...on&locale=en_US</a></p><p> which reads:</p><p><img src="https://secure.station.sony.com/cas/images/banner.png" alt="Central Authentication Service" width="687" height="76" border="0" /> </p><p><b>CAS is Unavailable</b></p><p>A general exception occurred while trying to access CAS. Please notify your system administrator. </p><p>Very Frustrating and scary. The primary account has my only level 70 toon that is an officer in our guild.</p>

Over 6 accounts affected that we know about in our guild that cant post here because they cant log on to forums.Makes you wonder how many people are affected by this.

I appreciate your response...but I am at a loss to understand why Sony does not have some monitoring system in place to catch things like this.  It is 2007 and we pay them more than enough to have someone monitoring the servers and especially the login system.  I fully understand that things happen...but for them not to have a system in place to monitor the servers at all times is a surprise.Kilbane

I know we have 4 guildies that cannot log in. Personally this is the crap that makes me wanna go back to wow. I love eq2 but its always SOMETHING

Oddly I am able to log onto STation Players with my own account, but not the game or the forum. I am using my husband's account to post on the forum.

For the love of all that is good!! Please fix this!!  So far this morning, I have raked the leaves, taken out the trash, mowed the back yard, washed the car, made up my bed, taken a shower (really needed it).  The work is killing me!  If this keeps up, my wife is going to expect this all the time!  SOE.. I blame you!!

<p>The lack of support for such a large problem, with so many of Sony's customers is unacceptable. Now, I for one, am playing an old account for this promotional period. But as unassatisfied as I am right now, tends to make me think about not resubsribing, and continueing to play the game i left EQ2 for to begin with. </p><p>P.S. an 'update' to your customers would be the smart move; give us assurrance there IS something being done about this..</p>

Well, my husband is having the same error messages... the error timed out and the error retrieval.   Very frustrating.    He can't even get on the forums to post that he's having a problem. I guess count our blessings, I can get in and report it.  None of our other guildies have logged in today, maybe I should call them and see if they are having the trouble too.... sigh.
