I've only been playing for a week now and it seems like if I want to play at all, I have to hope it's a "lucky day". The launcher starts fine. The patcher works fine. I log in just fine. I log into a character and the world loads and there I am. (I'm on the Everfrost server.)

I habitually click a merchant first thing now because that's the fastest way to tell if it's down it again. If I'm "lucky", the merchant window will display immediately and I know I can play for a few hours. If I'm not, which is far more often, well, nothing happens. 15-30 seconds later EQ2 reconnects and reloads the world. As soon as it exits the loading screen, it loses connection and repeats an infinite process. I'm tired of it and since I work nights, I can't even contact Live Help in any effective form. I've had a petition out for five days with no reply and thus far, I'm really disgusted with SOE Techinical Support.

This is my final attempt to locate some help to fix the problem. Please help me out.

Problem: Connection drops as soon as all entities and world has loaded.

System Information:

DXDIAG.TXT

------------------System You mentioned that it happens more when others in same house access the game. Do they encounter the same issue or no?

Wanted to see if possibly router might have been issue first. It might be that software Tebos mentioned but I didn't see it listed running as a service. So my next question is if you are using any custom UI. Reason being is you mentioned something very specific where an issue crops up.

Also, it seems like as long as I wait for a few seconds after each action or motion, it finally goes through. If I try to run more than a few yards, though, it seems like the latency is so great that it loses connection with where I'm REALLY standing. A ton of lag suddenly kicks up and everything goes dead and I get kicked back to Char Select.

It's not my network lagging - I don't receive anything near to this doing anything but playing Everquest 2. It is the ONLY program that has this problem. It is definitely a connection issue and not video. My firewall is NOT interfering, but I suspect my router may be. Again, this is something I'm not certain of and unsure how to test and would be a problem that I have experienced with no other program than this one. I did a full file scan today and nothing helped.

Also, I have this problem on other computers in my apartment as well and it does not seem to matter if anyone else is online. Every time I try to play, I time out completely upon taking a single step, sometimes I don't even get to do that.

I've had this same issue as you and I also have Comcast. (grrr... makes me wish I hadn't left my other cable company.) Did you get it resolved?I was playing fine on a modem + router til they came and replaced it with a combo modem/router last weekend ... and now I have the same issues you described with packet loss. When I do tracers, it shows consistent packet loss on one of Comcast's URLs... and they keep trying to tell me it's MY personal issue. I've had various issues with connecting between home and EQ2 ever since changing to Comcast. Grrr. Argh.

This helps a ton - we're getting a new router and requesting a regular modem from Comcast so maybe that'll fix it. Thanks!

EDIT: Haha, of course now I won't know because there's an update that keeps cancelling when it's almost done so I can't even hit PLAY anymore.

SOE, you need to get yourself together. Maybe if you tried to run less games, you could properly upkeep the better ones. Everquest 2 is an amazing game and I'm greatly disappointed that it's potential is being completely wasted by insufficient support. I would recommend this game to friends and co-workers who would in turn recommend it to theirs and we'd all be playing, paying you for this service, but as wonderful as the game is, most players can't even keep it running consistently because it's so full of holes. You guys are throwing away business, man.

Ok, replaced my crappy Netgear rental with a Linksys gateway and I have not had a problem yet. (even managed to get the download working) I am hoping this keeps up - I would like to pass on to Meryddian in particular that YES this seems to have had an immediate effect on my issue. I will be reposting in about a week to report if anything has changed. <3

Good to know. Think I'm going to pick up my own Linksys modem/router - the cable guy arrived today and told me that:1. whoever I talked to in CS/tech was wrong; the local (Chicago) Comcast people don't have any combo router/modem to offer except the Netgear;and 2. the repair/tech guy said he doesn't feel that Comcast supports gaming. He said he wasn't sure if it was they just don't care about gamers at all, or what, but he mentioned that he plays Second Life (which isn't even anywhere near as dynamic and graphically interesting as EQ2) and said that he has connectivity issues at home. A Comcast technician, who can fix his own stuff when things go wrong, has connectivity issues. That's just sad.So even the tech guy suggested I get my own modem/router and see if that helps any!
