Sorry for asking a pretty noobish question, but how does one go about getting those extra 4 slots open when you put crates down to sell items at the Vendor? (It says you get more slots for bigger houses but how do you do that?)

I believe they are opened up by buying a bigger house. in the mean time you can place storage boxes and broker display boxes (think thats what they are called) in the two you have and add items into them.

There are several housing options in each of the cities, from the starter inn rooms (1 room/2 broker slots) to the large 5 room houses (5 rooms/5-6 broker slots, depending on which house you purchase).

The NPC that allows you to buy/sell items to other players is called the "broker".

The items you place in the broker slots that you can place on display in your house are called "salesman crates" (generic and can hold any item that is sellable on the broker). There are also item specific sales displays such as "jewelry box", "bag stand", "potions cabinet", ect. If you do not have a lot of coin, and do not have an immediate need to place a crate in your house, you can also purchase any other container (backpack or strongbox) and sell from those.

Placing items in a sales crate in your house allows the customer to come to your house and bypass the broker commission fee. Selling from a strongbox or a backpack lists your item on the broker, but the customer is forced to pay the commission. For lower priced items, this usually isnt a problem and wont hinder your sales.

If you are going to purchase/make salesman crates to place in your house, be sure to place it in your house. Go to the merchant board in your house, right click on the sales crate and choose the option "place sales display". Once the sales display has been placed, any items for sale in that display will list on the broker showing your address.

(All I have is the starter one and don't see options for anything bigger)

You get more slots by buying a bigger house. The starting villages/cities have only inns with 2 slot rooms. The better apartments are located in other areas of the town. Go check out North Freeport or South Queynos, you will find houses of different sizes.

Thanks! One last question... Lets say you forget to pay rent, what happens to your boxes or items in those boxes? Can you still sell and store items in your crates while your at the Vendor?

They stay open.. however, if you have salesman crates open in your home, people cannot go into your home for a discount to brokerage fees if your rent is not paid, so that could affect your income.

If rent is pass due, only your first broker box is available on the broker (as everyone recieves one broker slot even w/o owning a house/apt/inn). All items placed in any additional broker boxes are removed from the broker until the rent is up to date. But yes, if rent is pass due, NOBODY, including yourself, may enter your house until it is paid up.

If you get the EQIIMAP, you will be able to open your map, go to top left hand corner and hit the +, choose "hide all", then select only "zones". You will see a yellow circle that represents all the zones gates in an area. If you are in a city (Qeynos, Freeport, Neriak, Kelthin, Maj'Dul) you will be able to mouse over the yellow circle and see where the zone gate leads to. Most of the zone gates in in those areas will be for apartments and houses (it will say over the mouse over the address and generally how many rooms/broker slots, initial cost and upkeep).
