View Full Version : Do pvp rewards still require and insane ammount of faction points?

<p>I remeber back when pvp came out, I had been pvping a lot after starting my character on a pvp server.  From lvl 10-43 I spent as much time pvping as I did pveing.  Then when I came of level where I would be able to use some pvp rewards I realized the points required were absolutly ridiculous.  For what it wanted for a lvl 40 2 handed sword I would have needed to ignore pve all together and focus 100% on pvp and by level 70 I MAY have had the points required for that level 40 sword.</p><p>Has this been adjusted at all to be more reasonable?</p>

You have to be more geared towards getting pvp kills than trying to do more PVE aspects of the game, but I didn't think it was hard to get enough faction to get pvp gear.

You outlevel these PVP rewards too quickly -> you HAVE to level-lock to get faction.

<p>Kill points? are you refering to faction or status?</p><p>Faction is pretty hard to get by level 20 without locking, but it can be done.</p><p>This sort of thread has been made time and time again, and Ill say what i'll always say: make faction start at 0 not -10000.</p>

I <span style="font-size: small;font-family: Times New Roman;">dont generally go out looking for PvP, sometimes I do, but not that often. In about 10 months of time, I have about 450-500 kills, 75 tokens (you need 100 for an single piece of PvP armour!!!) and about 5k faction. So I'm level 70 and have no faction gear and no PvP gear, so yes, you need an insane amount of kills for my play style. Also I play on Venekor which doesnt exactly have a huge population which also plays a part in that.</span>

<p>On venekor I got over 3500 kills as a scout with track.</p><p>Find a scout buddy and the fights will be easier to find (not necessarily easier to get - but find).</p>

<p>IMO, I like where it is at.  I dont want every Tom, Dick, and Harry running around in PVP gear becasue they happend to get some kills under their belt.  Its a reward to those who are dedicated to pvp'ing, not a free hand out.  Just like it real life, good things come to those who work hard.</p><p>Given that, I did find it a bit odd when you start out a new toon for Freeport, your faction for Quenos is better than it is for Freeport!</p>

Yeah, it is pretty insane. For the minimum pvp gear (level 20) you need 7500 faction, which is around 600 kills. As a solo player, it took my wizzie a few months to get it on Venekor, and even when I got it, all I could get was one item at lvl 20 (a really nice staff). Run around with a scout and a couple healers and you shouldn't have a problem getting faction. I once met a 17 warden who had MAXIMUM faction.

<p>You think its tough now? I remember back in the day at the birth of the server. No one knew how much faction we needed and noone had any pieces until i decided to try to buy one and amazingly it worked, lvl 40 item with at least 1,800 kills probably more if i can recall right. So the likes of myself and Pheelin etc were discovering them finally but the vast majority of others didnt stand a chance... Im pretty sure then swiftly changed the faction needed as this was just rediculous. So like i said, you have it easy.. And of course now you can also turn in tokens for faction...</p><p>Galoro</p>

Yes.  They still require an amount of faction points that <u>REQUIRE</u> you level lock, or you will never see them until they are greyed out. That seems to be a flaw to me.

I think this is the number one issue on the PvP servers. There would not be a T2 twink problem and as much noob griefing if player were not forced to lock in the low levels and slaughter noobs for faction. This is what is killing pvp.

<p>"I dont want every Tom, [I cannot control my vocabulary], and Harry running around in PVP gear becasue they happend to get some kills under their belt"</p><p>Dude that is an exageration.  I am not saying greatly lower the requirements but as it stands now it's completely riduclous.  Even a character focusing 100% on pvp and not doing any pve at all without level locking would long out level the usefulness of the items by the time they would have enough faction to even use em, and that's not right.  And for a casual pvper who divides his time equally between pve and pvp I can pretty much remove all pvp reward items for the realm of possability.</p><p>This is flawed and should be balanced.  I never said make it ridiculously easy to optain, but currently the ammount of faction you start with, the ammount of faction you earn and the requirements for even the lowest level rewards is absolutly insane and should be looked into.</p><p>As I said I started pvping around level 10 and spent as much time pvping as I did pveing and by level 43 I was still around -6000 faction.  I would have in esence needed to lock my level and triple my kill points just to use a level 40 sword.</p><p>Maybe if I was in a party and all we did was sit in dungeons and gank every group we came across would this go faster,  but as it stands this system mearly encourages non stop ganking and mass killing to even come close to the faction status needed.  </p>

To be honest, I feel like the game is designed to be played with combat experience disabled.  If you choose, then you may "skip ahead" by enabling your combat experience.  Personally, if I don't have combat experience disabled, then I feel like there are so many quests that I just out-level.  Even with combat experience disabled full-time on my blue server character, I struggle to get my quests done before they grey-out.My point is that i think disabling combat experience is actually an important part of the game; something that everyone "should" be doing, actually, unless you feel like leveling up (which is also perfectly fine).I agree that the faction requirements for pvp gear are high.  I actually don't even have enough faction to buy any for my main pvp character, which I started almost when the pvp servers were launched.  (I know, pretty lame, huh?)  Are the faction requirements too high, though?  I'm not sure.  I don't think it would be any fun if the pvp equipment were easy to get.  I don't relish the idea of half the people in tier 2 running around with the same set of full pvp gear.  Do you feel that it's already that way now?  I'm not sure, as I don't pvp in tier 2 or check out what other people are wearing at that level.Regardless, simply reducing the amount of faction required is not the correct answer, in my opinion.  Right now, the high faction requirements promote low-level twinking and farming people for faction.  If you feel that this is a problem (and I know a lot of people do), then maybe the faction requirements should be "modified", not reduced.  By "modified", I mean adding more requirements, rather than just a straight faction number with the Royal Antonical Guard or Lucanic Knights or whatever.  If there were more pvp mechanisms in the game, such as defending strongholds or winning in battlefields, then this would be a possibility, since there would be more options for game designers to build those requirements off of.  However, as of right now all they have to go on is number of enemies killed (aka faction).

<p>Why not instead of 5 faction per token at level 20 you just do something like double the faction recieved per token?</p><p>That would really make alot more sense for the change in how hard fights become in later tiers then lower tiers.</p>
