I've been playing on a PvE server and wanted to try out the PvP aspect of the game. My first choice of toon was a Assassin but I rolled a Berserker last night.

What is the general opinion about those 2 classes???

You don't really need to worry about what class you choose to play. The game is balanced, no matter what people say.

It doesn't matter that a Berserker would lose to a wizard hands down. Why? Because both factions have those classes. No side is more powerful than the other.

Qeynos has rangers, monks, swashbucklers, illusionist, conjurers, templars and mystics.

Freeport has assassins, brigands, shadowknights, bruisers, necromancers, inquisitors and defilers.

This is balance. For every "good" class Freeport has Qeynos has another.

Try a couple of different classes. Understand that you'll have an advantage over some and be at a disadvantage against others, and you'll fare much better than the nerf-criers than can't get it through their heads that a Ranger will kill them if they are at a distance, and an Assassin will lay down some serious pain up-close & personal. As Hinosh stated, it's balanced in that aspect. The neutral classes assure it. The biggest problem with PvP in general is getting people to accept that when you need a wrench, only a wrench will do. You can try pliers, but you'll probably just get hurt or bust the bolt. But when you need to pull a nail out of a board, pliers are definitely what you want to have on hand.
Only real Berserkers I have PvP'ed with are Magix and Brace, and they are obviously very successful with that class.

The things about zerkers is, there are very few of them out there, and 95% of them I've faced aren't very well geared. I'm yet to loose to a zerker on any of the classes I've pvp'd on, but I'll admit I've only fought one that I know was reasonably well geared, and that was the closest zerker fight I've had.

Zerkers are strongest in groups, and tbh in a 6 man grp I think they are the best tanks. That or SK.

Assassins are also strong in PvP. They have track, which imo is the biggest reason that scouts are so successful solo. But they aren't too amazing until around T4.

Out of the 2 I'd go Assassin for a first toon, but if you harvest rares for MC armor and Adept 3s, either class will rock.

My Zerker would eat about 95 percent of the wizards he ran into, and even the ones that beat me were not assured victory, it was usually pretty close. AS for berzerkers, they can be very good in pvp, if you A) know your class and capabilitiesb) know the classes you're fighting against, and know when you need to using potions and such to nullify some of their strengths against you. c) know how to time your burst dps capabilitiesd) have decent gear. Berzerker is very gear dependent, probably more so than a lot of classes, although this is arguable. Your main weakness as a berzerker will be1. You cant see them coming so can't pick your fights or surprise attack for the most part.2. If they run from you you have no way of slowing them down for the most part.Your main strengths--1. You have some amazing burst DPS, more than a lot of people realize. You can't sustain it very long, but you have the capabilities of taking most classes down with a few combos.2. You are in plate so you mit will be higher than non plate wearers and you can take a bit more damage. 3. you have 2 "bring me back to life mid death haha surprise you thought i was dead but i'm really not" abilities. 4. You have the coolest looking class hat in the game (if flavor flav or vikings are your thing) A lot of people will tell you that BEerzerkers suck in pvp. Honestly, i never saw it. I was 70 for a good long while and all the way up i thought they rocked. Some players could beat me consistently, but no single class i came against ever had me thinking "Well i just can't beat that class". From insane dpsing scouts to healers that just never seemed to drop, i still feel and have always felt that the zerker could hold his own.
Berserkers are very good classes for all aspects of the game, they are very good group and raid tanks, and arguably are the best tank class to solo pvp with. As for assassin, if you dont know the game, I dont reccomend it, it is one of the hardest classes to succeed with in pvp, all it takes is a fsat ticking dot and at the higher levels your done.

Assassin is deff not beginner friendly.

Dhye

I have a level 70 berserker. I've been very succesful in the duels on BBM docks with him, and he's pretty good when coming up against any non-scout and a bad sorcerer in PvP. However since you have no track, be prepared to die to rangers or full groups an awful lot. By the time you're under attack, even with your 8k hp, you're often going to be dead if it's a ranger attacking you. Basically I would recommend making a berserker if you plan to be in a group most of the time. Otherwise, make a scout. There's just no substitute for track.
