Tower Shield - I don't raid, when should I use one?

I solo, tank small groups, and play support role in small groups - when should use a tower shield?

I raid MT and using the draconic deflector, which is a kite shield.  I think, most of the shields I've ever used were kite shields.  Even the Qeynos guard is a kite.  So they are fine to use to tank with.  The main thing with shields is their protection value, their stats and if they add anythign to your mitigation.  Beyond that, the type of shield is less important than the benefit it provides to you.

<p>Jal the Guard is a tower but Deflector is a kite. The differance now between Kite and Tower is usually not much if nething and palies can use both so it doesn't matter much neways.</p><p> To the OP I would recommend using a Shield/1hander whenever tanking unless the mobs you are fighting are alot weaker then you then I would swap to offensive stance or use a good 2 hander. If you are trying to figure out how to spend your money then I would definately invest in a good shield or one hander before getting a good 2 hander.</p>
