Just some background on how I set up keys. I do the first 3 keys progress and keys 5-7 durability. For my weaponsmith, to do better with crafting faster, I have started using the lowest tier possible on the power reaction. I keep the other 2, the non power useage ones, current with tier. I logged back on this afternoon and started another writ, as I camped out right next to the forge, and all the sudden half way through the third combine I was totally out of power. I hit each reaction that comes up so I am not getting drained with health and power. I was confused by this as this morning was totally different. Same writ too. I opened up the knowledge book and was looking at the descriptions, and it looks like there are now 7 reactions and they have totally increased in power, or at least way more power than I am used to seeing. The tier 1 progress, while I know this is power based %, seemed at least double, And the tier 2 durability was almost triple the power costs. I was looking further and the tier 6 durability buff was LESS power than the t4 durability buff. How is that possible? I didn't see any downtime or even noticed any patches. I was talking to guildies and they have been on all afternoon and nothing. I really didn't like not being able to do the same writ, the same way I have done them for the last 50+ levels, (am level 66 at the moment) and then log on the same day and not be able to do it the same way.

Woah... 1K+ power cost?! You crafting w/o gear on or what? And as for why the lvl 30 counter costing more then the 51, a thought about that came to me.1192 / 4 = 298298 x 3 = 894So, you really are paying for that extra 5 durability even if it is using a percentage of your power pool.

Be aware that the whole TS arts system is getting a revamp with Kunark.

In the current system tradeskill arts aren't upgrades as such. Each tier introduces new arts, and you need to use the most recently-acquired ones to get the greatest chance of a skill-up, but they aren't neccesarily a smooth increasing progression when it comes to results. It's possible for a higher tier to produce less of an effect (at a lower cost) than an earlier tier, and in some cases it'll jump and then backfill the skipped step later. As far as the cost, basically tradeskill arts are based on a fixed percentage of your power pool, not a fixed number of points. So each +1 durability might cost 1% of your power pool, however many points that needs to be. This is why the recommendation to craft naked (no stat clothing or equipment, no buffs, etc., especially ones that affect your primary stats (the ones that contribute to your power pool)) and with as much power-regen boosts as you can manage via totems, Flowing Thought on items and such. The smaller your power pool, the smaller the cost in points for using each tradeskill art. The higher your power regen per tick, the larger a chunk of your pool you refill each tick. If you get your pool small enough and your power regen high enough, you're recovering as much power each tick as you're burning in TS arts and you never run out of power while crafting. Dumping everything that'd increase your primary stats is the fastest way to decrease your power pool.NB: this is also why a lot of crafters have low-adventure-level (and thus small-power-pool) crafter characters. If you're a level 1 adventurer with all stats under 25 and a power pool less than 100, but you're crafting level 70 and able to use the high-tier power-regen totems, you can literally get 100% of your pool refilled per tick while only burning 30% per tick on arts. Of course, failing to counter an event can kill you at that level too...

To be honest, I have never really had a Power Issue on any of my crafters, you don't need to use the icon that drains power except to counter, and even then I dont always bother, just use the other two skills and still get a hit normally.I guess it is technically slightly slower but to be honest crafting is easy and fast enough on my main. Plenty of time to do rush orders etc, no problem with failing a combine ( other than the obvious, looking at forums etc and failing by not concentrating) For me at least its easy and quick enough without flipping about my gear. I think people get too hung up about naked crafting and power problems in crafting when your better off knowing how to craft without the power draining Art, just using the other two and using this power drain Art only when you need to counter and then when you want to speed a particular craft up. I dont even bother using totems or drink while crafting either, as its just more unnecessary expense.
