I tried the sandalwood in one hand and the overclocked in the other and got two different icons on my bar each showing a reduction in harvesting time, but now I can only get one or the other to show up in my maintained bar. Do they not stack?

The do not stack. You'd get a faster-than-zero harvesting time.

I'm going to say .. probably not. (shame, though)

You can verify what is or what is not taking an effect by opening your knowledge window (k).

Find your harvest icon of choice. It should say 5.0 seconds casting without any of the helpers equipped.

Equip 1st tool. Verify casting. Equip 2nd tool. Verify casting.

I dunno why I had it in my head I could do that...which is fine...for the record....it was filling up my bags, but I wanted to be spppeeeedddddyyyyyy

Indeed, total bummer; however, it would be awesome if they did stack!

There is a different tale whispered when gangs of crafters meet in their dark chambers to conduct their mysterious writes.

There was a time they did stack but the unfortunate accident of opps fizlecog and the subsequent investigation led to the current situation where you can only chose one or the other.

This of course explains why people remember being able to use both and the unxplained flood of rares recently onto the market. Stories that nodes were strangley changing to have more rares in them ofcorse are patently ridiculous and are just cover stories spread by Gnomeland security.

The problem with using both is that with a negative harvesting time you can potentially harvest a node before it appears. This ofcourse would be a dangerous and stupid thing to attempt which is why it was a young gnome called Opps who was the first to try it. Using a patented gnome node finder he set about trying to harvest nodes that were not there yet. Due to the danger to others he sensibly chose to attempt this at night. Sadly after running into trees and on one occasion a rather disgruntled bear it was descided to try again during the full moon so he could actually see.

During the next full moon he set out again, equiped with the essentials and the now rebuilt steam powered node finder. Unfortunatley the combination of a dirge music box, over clocked jboots and a wolf totem worked and Opps managed to arrive at a node beore the node itself did and attempted to harvest it.

A passing centuar that attempted to describe the event to investigators as sort of like some one trying to turn them selves inside out while sucking thier head through a straw and exploding oh yes and the was this sort of opps no arrrrg sound.

Recently people have reported nodes and glowies that disapeer just before they get to them. Friends that go out to harvest and all they find is a pack or a harvesting tool. Just remember if its a full moon and you are harvesting in the thundering stepps and you hear the patter of little feet and a distant scream dont stop to look or finish what you are doing , just run and may be, may be the phantom node stealer wont catch you.
