I am under the impression that it is possible, just don't understand the ramifications.

I messed up and would like to reshuffle to profession chosen of some of my toons. If I do a respec, I guess I lose all the skill points built up an then have to start from scratch with the new profession? The purchased knowledge books become obsolete or do I get them back to be able to move to the new toon?

What other problems could doing this respect produce for me??

Yes it is possible.

You need to see a tradeskill councillor and speak to them. You will have your tradeskill reset to Artisan Level 9. You do lose any scribed books that are specific to your previous calss (you do get to keep the non-class specific recipes for quests etc. such as the Nest recipes or Heritage quest recipes). If you have a Tinkering or Transmuting skill this will not be reset.

You can find a guide to the process here

http://eq2.allakhazam.com/db/guides...html?guide=1025
