Back to EQ2 again, after a long long break. Wanting to start a new character, and avoiding my tendencies to min max too much. But I do want to have fun.

What I'm looking for: A tank, a plate wearing warrior, preferably using a large 2 hander, shield in tough spots. I wana be able to solo ocasionaly but will likely always be grouped with a fury. I will be my groups main tank, but would like to be able to do some damage too.

Now, I have heard a berserker fills this role, but I don't know why I'm resisting the zerker, I think I like the idea of a guardian better, more disciplined and such. But the guardian has me worried, I have heard they do very very low damage and can't solo very well.

So please give me a sugestion on a class, and how to use my AAs as I get them. I would seriously want to use a 2 hander but if thats just not recomended please mention it. Is there a AA spec that allows for 2 handers without making the spec paths exlusive? (like, STA is useless with a 2 hander right?) After all, I do want to be able to tank well as well.

And no, I will likely never see a raid in this game.

Just my opinion...Guardian = tank with defensive utility's and minimal DPS guards are all about surviving and protection group members in long battlesZerk = tank with DPS utility and less defense NO HP/STA buffs zerks are killing machines doing damage to mobs with no care that there taking damage With STA spec a guard can put out some nasty DPS but ur sacrificing block% from wearing a buckler instead of a tower...(although some say the difference doesn't matter ) I have no agro issues unless I'm slaking using a tower, my DPS is not that high but dps is not everything...

Strah wrote:
And no, I will likely never see a raid in this game.
Then go Berserker. You do not need all the tools for aggro/death prevention that a Guardian has if you aren't raiding and your DPS will be higher as a Berserker. And honestly, at this time it seems the best DPS comes from the Sta line(using a one hander and buckler). You can use a 2-hander and still deal out good DPS but not as good as a buckler. Maybe RoK will introduce better 2-handers but we will have to see.

I would not rule out the shadowknight either. They can do some good dps and tank any instance as well. Just don't go looking for a raid spot with one.
