I have a lvl 40 SK alt. I enjoy playing this alt quite a bit, but in the last few lvls I am having more and more trouble holding agro from the healers and nukers. Since my main is a 70 wis, I know that it an be done, but I just don't know how. Can someone fill me in on the basics for holding agro? Do you lead with taunts, AEs, or other?

Well I must say that I honestly feel that aggro management should come from everyone but the tank to a degree. Meaning that if you are the tank, you have mob targeted, and you see arrows flying over your head, or spell effects going at the mob before you even engauge there will be a problem getting aggo because others are gonna have it first. When you hit taunt and the group is already firing away chances are you will loose aggro. I feel that it is a group understanding what they can do to help bring the mob down in an efficent time while helping the tank keep the aggro. The tank will always be blamed if aggro is lost! However if I am reading these forums correctly 1 point of damage is one point of hate and if the tanks taunt is like 1200 but the wizard just nuked the mob for a spell crit of 4000 there is a possiblity of the wizzy getting stomped.

Try to be if you can the first to engauge the mob(s). I would then taunt and use possibly my strongest combat art, then retaunt when it is back up and fight like a mad dog.

I start with whatever our highest lvl taunt/disease debuff is, chose it as my master II. then roll right into my AoE's as I turn the Mobs, and then shield bash and my other taunt and unless someone jumped the trigger or i got stifled or resisted I have agro lockdown most of the time. very few classes will take agro from me during a fight and I can usually get it back unless its an uber group going thru someplace like OOB, then I just switch to offensive and go 1H , drop hammer ground after the AOE, hit tap viens and Mobs are dead before I can do anything else in a good group. all I have to do then is make sure I switch targets quickly to give my groupmates the next target. so try talking to your group about giving you time to get agro, or if your group has a strong healer, switch to offensive and go 1H. even at lvl 40 that will make a difference. but like posted, gotta make sure your group isnt jumpin' the gun and giving you a chance to get some agro going.

He's what I do. I'm a few levels above and kinda twinked - but have no problem holding aggro.

Pre Ward - self healing really seems to annoy the mobs. Keeping healing your self with attacks - not only helps out the healer - but also increases hate towards you.

Shield bash... it seems to me thats one of our more effective taunts. This is the first attack I have against the mob. Also make sure you are closest to the mob - proximity aggro is an issue.

Heroic opportunity - do your solo "HO - sword - taunt" one. Dunno what it is - but that seems to double the effectiveness of the taunt. Solo taunt I use every time it comes up with painful/pariah's line.

So at your level to open on the mob, I'm doing destructive slam - HO - Pariah's Mark - Insidious Whisper/Shriek of Terror.

For snap aggro - AE aura/unending line. 1/2 second spell cast time DoT. It's v. fast and its hitting again and again.

Now I'll agree Aggro is everyones you... but when it all goes wrong...

Intercede - don't forget it - not only do you stop the squishy going spalt, but it increases hate towards you.

Harm touch - in group that is rescue mark 2.

Feign death - give them a dirt bath. Not only does it clear their hate, but it's really quite satisfing.

EDIT - Correcting mong spelling

Also get a red cloak and wave it around.... It helps... honest

What I have found:

Ensuring I am the one who aggros (not a teammate); opening up with an offensive attack (adept III or higher); tuant/hate (adept III or higher) and lastly ensuring the proximity is correct.
