New troubador here. I was quite excited to see charm pop up when I respecced from Dirge (level 24 atm, newly betrayed to Queynos). However, in practice, so far, its been about useless. I am thinking maybe there are special ways of using charm that make it worthwhile? My previous "charmin bard" experience has been in EQ and Vanguard, so that's probably led me to unrealistic expectations.

Macros? Any suggestions would be welcome, since now its just sitting there being unused, since I don't (apparently) know how to use it correctly.

Charm is only useful in emergency situations. Say you get 2 adds and you mez one then you can charm the other for the little time it stays on helps out a bit till your mez is back up. It is just too short duration to be used in any other ways. Oh and you can probly use it on a mob that is next to a harvestable item when you dont feel like killing it.

Well, that's unfortunate and about what I feared. Almost seems like it'd be better dropping that spell for something useful eh?

Thanks for taking the time to respond; it is appreciated.

Charm is absolutely awesome for pulling.Provided Aria doesn't proc (easy enough to click off) you can pull a single mob encounter without social aggro, and/or use it to pet pull.both are pretty nice abilities, and besides - we get other ways to solo

I use it all the time. Have it max aa spec'd.1. Pulling - Not only can you cleanly pull solo mobs with this, but you can pull groups of mobs with this and have a little buddy to help you dps from the start of the fight.2. Emergency use - When I'm with a good group I'm usually perty low on the agro list, if not the lowest. Many a time I have saved full wipes due to mez'n the mob after everyone is dead, then charming it, can use rez cliky's. After rez I target the mob and spam cheapshop. Cheapshop at full aa spec lasts long enough to cast mez. This doesn't happen often. 3. DPS - 3. CC - My CMM group's don't require a chanter. I haven't tried yet but I think I could handle Nizara without a chanter. I'm sure people use it for stuff I didn't' list.

Charm it when your about to lose in pvp, it takes you out of combat and you can run away, evac, or use it under 50% and never lose fame!

Charm is awesome when you think about how to use it... as straight DPS it works, but here are much better uses. Charm has a convenient duration to let you keep 2 mobs CC'd forever (assuming Bria's running) and yes, you can CC Nizara... if you have a good tank.

You can charm mobs out of packs as well. As long as you don't get a resist (Aria wont proc on a successful charm) you can pull any solo mob from anywhere within range. This is an awesome way of pulling the shards in Unrest.

Seems alot of the troubs with high titles are known abusers of this little 'feature' of charm.
