We've done pretty much every MMO (and every class in them) and we're coming back to EQ2 (played at release). He wants to be a shadowknight because, well who doesn't? And I want to play a healer...but with some variety. The question is age old, we're looking to make a hybrid tank and hybrid healer duo, would the SK and Def work well? Is there a better class combination? If the moon was made of cheese, would we visit it more often? I think so.

From everything I've read from other players, the best complement for an SK appears to be a Necro. I don't play Necros because they're too ubiquitous and I think they're overpowered. That said, a Defiler would be a perfectly good companion to an SK. You ward, you debuff, and you aren't a pincushion. You also have good utility for larger groups and excellent utility in raids.

I've heard that Inquisitors have better dps and debuffs than Defiler, is this true? And if so would an inquisitor compliment a duo better?

Inquisitors add some of the best DPS buffs, but if you are talking Debuffs, nothing beats a shaman.

I have a Defiler at Level 66 and an Inquisitor at Level 25But I think that is a very hard question. If you choose Defiler your debuffs are superior but it could be that your damage is somewhat laking for a two toon setup. As Inquisitors have the Battlepriest EOF AA line they are able to dash out a whole lot of melee DPS and that is more thanthe damage of a DefilerWith an Inquisitor you will be standing next to your friend in frontline mowing through your enemies, but there is one problemAs the Inquisitor is a Plate Healer you will gamble for the gear everytime. heheFor this special setup I would go Inquisitor but from the healing point of view the defiler is still superior due to the effectivenessof your wards

I don't know if the defiler is the 'best' complement for a SK.But I have leveled from 5 to 38 alsmost exclusively with a friend playing a SK and I can tell you that it works very well. We've found that both being on the disease/poison business, our debuffs help each others (def dots/debuff lowering disease resist add to the ones from the SK and we both benefit from them).Against a full debuffed mob, the SK needs no heal just a ward from time to time), so I concentrated on debuffs and dots and we had very little downtimes and deaths (well apart from the deaths when we decided to try stupid things for fun ^^ )
