I primarily use LB as a raiding tool. Some will use it soloing or grouping. During raids I am less concerned about drawing aggro than I am in a group. The dmg from LB in a group will pull aggro on my toon when I only have 1 health point left. I don't care how good the tank is. So, that can often mean insta-death if LB doesn't finish the mob. During a raid, even with LB, I am usually 5 or 6 places down on the aggro list (but not always ). So, in my opinion LB during groups or soloing is a risky judgement call. I won't say never but the circumstances need to be pretty desperate or I have to be confident that some add isn't going to walk by and pound me after LB is done. Honestly, if you are in a half-way decent group you don't need LB. Soloing LB might be useful to finish off a heroic mob provided you will have time to regen health afterwards. For non-heroics it would be a waste of time, though.Frankly, if you prefer soloing put your AA's into Manipulations and get Tainted Heals. Also, put your points into the Rotting Line but Lifeburn is optional until you start raiding. The other capabilities in the Rotting line are really handy for soloing, though. Get them. Also, in the summoner tree put your AA's into the STA and WIS line. Those will buff your tank pet up very nicely. Also, the AOE knockdown in the STA line can be handy. Once you decide to start raiding you can respec to STR/INT or WIS/INT since you will be using your mage pet more on raids. If you decide you like grouping more than soloing go with AGI instead of STA line. The scout pet is best for small groups since the mage pet's DOT spells don't usually have the time to max out their dps in small group encounters.

I love lifeburn, but honestly only using duoing. When it is just you and one other, you can bite off a bit more than you can chew sometimes and it comes in handy then. In full group, I rarely use and I think I have used it like twice soloing and that was before tainted heas when pet was dying faster than I could heal him.

Due to the aggro generation and loss of hp to the caster, it is a very situational ability. I would not respec out of it just because I do not use it much though.

It is kind of like having a compromising photograph of your boss. Not that you would USE it, but is good to know you have it if you ever need it.

I assume the STA AA mini-rescue is quite handy when using lifeburn while soloing. It even works when you are not using the tank pet.
