This may be answered way down deep in the discussion if online or retail is better...Its getting close to one month till the game is released, and I was wondering if anyone has heard when we can pre order the game for online down load from SOE??

Same question, I saw no adds or nothing yet, I usually download the expansions online.

Can already pre order on Amazon...may be quicker in the end.....avoid the launch day bottlenecks.

I was also wondering when the pre-order d/d of the expansion was going to be available. It is getting dangerously close to try and put out a d/d pre-order package.

My only choise for a reatil box would be to order from the other side of my country and pray that they get them from SoE in time and then send to me in time. Somehow I expect that to not be the case

But yeah, if you are able to have a copy in your hand by launchday, it shouldnt be too much to patch, on the other hand it shouldnt be too much if you have had it download in advance either. No matter that, there will be bottlenecks when you get ingame and everyone and their grand niece are gonna squeeze into the same zones.

I tend to remember them doing this as well... a background download over a few days to get the brunt of the package to the clients.

Yes, I cannot imagine they would not continue to do these background downloads, as they so greatly reduce the patch time. If I recall correctly, a new option showed up on the patcher that allowed you to select whether or not you wanted to download those files, and this happened 1-2 weeks prior to launch. I remember everyone speculating as the background downloads occurred--they would open up the game folder on their hard drives and examine the music files, especially, and debate what they signified. Fun stuff.

I am anxious to pre-order the download as well. The 13th is a Tuesday, I note. As I work during the day, I will launch the patcher when I get up in the morning before I go to work. When I get home, I will close the patcher and then relaunch it to see if there were any panic patches during the day, and then I should be ready to zone in a Sarnak. Worked like a charm on EOF.
