i would like the ability to name your own foods that provisioners make. in other words keep the stats that the food has now but let us name the food . ie instead of screewoggin's suprise let us name it what we want , it still has the stats as screewoggin's but with a new name , in order to avoid confusion on the broker have the players search by lvl instead of name for their selections.

I really liked the naming and crafting in SWG. But I don't think EQ2 is quite set up for something like that.

I know some happened in SWG (moreso when you could even put colour code the name) and when there have been 2 items of the same name in EQ2 it's caused issues, too.Plus, the tradeskill dev who was before removed a lot of the "flavour" names on things (especially poisons and potions) instead giving them identical names with a changing prefix for tier and quality with the stated reason of making it easier for people to know what those items did tier to tier. Even though food and drink didn't get changed as drastically, it, too, has mostly hemogenous names rather than ones of real flavour in order to make it easier for new players to know which type of food/drink does what from tier to tier.

It made sense in SWG to name your items, as they were (potentially) unique. Be it food, armor or other things with stats that people wanted to compare prices on without examining each and every item... or just buying a purple and blue shirt without having to look through the other 30 same model shirts in different colors.

On the one hand, having the same name does make it easier to know what you're buying and getting, on the other hand, all the vibrancy was removed, they're no longer "fun". In my opinion, what should have been done was a combo, sorta. It could have been Master Caustic Torment of Rijacki, Superb Caustic Wombat Juice. A search on Caustic (DD poison) would still come up with those in the list, to make it easier to look for and easier to identify master = T6 rare, caustic = direct damage, but still having flavour and fun factor. Instead it's Master Caustic Poison, Superb Caustic Poison, Excellent Caustic Poison, etc.*sighs*Oh well, who said anything was suppose to have character or be any fun...

If we could rename food, would it be difficult for people buying it to know exactly what it was - i.e. have to study the stats of everything before buying? Could I, for example, name my black antonican coffee "Giggglegibberry Juice" in order to catch the buyer unaware? Not that I would of course - far be it from me!
