ive read in a number of places on this site about "fixes" for the problems with multi-core boards and XP, and i've downloaded a million and a half patches to 'fix' the compatibility problem. now, whenever i play the game - my screen begins to 'tear' (black screen appears and disappears in a fast jumpy motion) and within a few minutes, i get a game crash.i've tried everything, my system specs are...Processor :: Intel boxd975 quad core 2.4Vid Card :: e-GeForce 8800 GTSSound Card :: Sound Blaster Live! (cheap one)if i can't get the game to run i'ma have to cancel my sub and i really wanna try it out >.<any help?

Something tells me it's not your CPU that is the issue but your video card. Do you currently have the latest drivers from nVidia? Is the fan working properly on the video card? Do you have the video card hooked up to the PSU?I also seem to remember a post a while back about some defective 8800s. I don't remember the details but you may want to contact the manufacturer if all else fails.

side-note, 2 CPUs worked fine too, didnt bother trying 3 as it runs perfectly smooth with 2. turns out my problem isn't hardware - its software.. these games aren't ready to handle my beefy 'puter :p
