Race question

I'm a noob and I was just wondering if Race choice made a huge difference for a Monk. Thanks!

Not really. Traditionally monks were Human only, and then Iksar were the evil version. So if roleplay matters at all to you that might make a difference. There's also starting city to consider. But if you're wondering about stats and racial traits it doesn't make much difference at all.

I play a 1/2 elf monk and have loved her from day one. I never regret the choice. I've played many characters over the years and have found some may tank a bit better than others in the beginning. When you reach the end they're pretty much equipment based rather than race and if you don't like looking at yourself your not going to play anyway.

Well, I figured on waiting to let all the lesser races plead their own mindless banter, but to be honest, iksar is really the only way to go..All of the races are pretty standard, nothing really unique.. well frogloks are pretty unique but.. meh... it's kinda like saying the Hunchback of Notre Dame would be a good monk too..The truth is, Iksar is REALLY the only -true- answer for a monk honestly.Best looking race by far.Most unique race by far.Best Lore by far.Best clothing options.. by far..Most UNIQUE race.. by far..And to top it all off, being an iksar who betrayed means you can be a jerk and people will still like ya.Though, seriously, stats and crap mean nothing endgame, just go with whatever looks most badass in the Gi. :b I think ratonga look cool with a GI too.Just look at the link I posted in my sig and you'll see the 'right' choice for this topic. ;bOkay, I've had my moment.

Best way to make your decision of a race other then what you think looks the best to you is to check all there racial traditions. <p>My monk's an ogre.  Made him waaaaaaaay back in the early days too, so he went "Fighter -> Brawler -> Monk" -- Never was a bruiser.</p><p>Pretty rare race/class combo.  Gets a nice +5 defense bonus, STA and HP increase.  Works pretty well for him.</p>
