Why does root have such a high resist rate? It seems 90% of the time it resists, I have the imp root aa points and it still fails. As important as CC is for soloing I am disappointed with it. Any suggestions? In addition to failing, it seems when it does work I only get off one spell before it breaks, I have reluctantly decided just to tank the mob(s) rather than waste power trying to CC anything as it is easier to just heal through the dmg than get beat on trying to get a root spell to go off.

I didn't use root strats for some time now, but I remember it like that on bigger encounters-> encounter root -> nuking one target till it breaks -> doesn't break, so encounter root again -> finally one resisted -> melee that one down -> all over again. And I never had the AA enhancements, except once on the single one, but that was awefull.. didnt get it to break most of the time.If you melee them, it usually breaks quite fast. If you nuke them, it's pretty much persisitent imho, might want to try without dotting if rooting is necesesarry.

Don't roots use subjugation skill? If so, see if yours is below the cap for your level, makes a difference I've found.

What Mullen said. Roots are the only Subjugation skill spell you will use and the skill probably super low. It makes a pretty massive difference if you're trying to root mobs at 70 with a 96/350 Sub. skill. Also casting both roots on the mob will help failsafe if one root breaks.

Yup...one uses subjugation and the other uses ordination, and I never can remember which one it is. (group vs. single target). Check your subjugation ability and I bet it's 20/250 or some incredible imbalance like that. Improved AA's don't help because 100% of nothing is still nothing ..(lol). Once you raise that skill level. you'll see the difference with the AA points that you took.

It used to be that if you stood around the docks or wherever spamming your Phoenix spell, you could increase the ability, but I think they changed that from subjugation to ordination (sorry, it's been a long time since I wasnt' maxed on everything...). So now the only way to do that is to find some hapless mob and just stand there rooting it over and over while you raise the ability.

The one root that uses subjugation is usually the culprit with them breaking early, the other one with ordination is fine because most of our spells use that ability so it's usually maxed.

Slightly off topic, I apologize, but what's the point of upgrading the root spells from Apprentice I? The only thing I've noticed (from the descriptions) is how much the mob is slowed down by after the root breaks. Everything else, including the resistability is identical. Is that it, or is there an unmentioned benefit to upgrading roots from Apprentice I to Adept I or III?

Group root debuffs agility also so it's ordination, single target is a straight status effect which is subj. Edit: Oh, the 5 min recast deaggro is subj also
