SK vs. Necro for soloing named mobs and instance named bosses I am currently 30 and I go into Fallen Gate and solo a number of the named bosses in that instance. Takes alot of finessing and juggling things, but overall it works out nicely. One of my friends is a Necro, he said he can do the same thing at that level and up to 70, he soloes the Nest and other places, and says that in about 10 to 20 levels I am not going to be able to solo named mobs in dungeons anymore, and will have trouble doing less then even con world based names. The only reason I have any thought in believing him is that he has a 70 SK as well as his 70 Necro. He bashes on the SK and slathers his Necro with praise. Maybe he is just jaded, but man he really makes me want to spend more time leveling my Necro, but so far I feel my SK is better. I want to know if I am going to hit a roadblock in my soloing of dungeon named mobs in a few levels, and then have problems with world based named mobs a bit later then that. He also says that Necros don't cost much as they don't need to keep their gear up as much as SK but they do need to keep their spells in top order. I solo 99% of my play time, and will probably keep doing that for a while. I want to spend most of my time leveling a character that can give me the most flexbility and ability to smash named mobs both in the world and in instances solo. If anyone here has any experience playing a SK and a Necro up through the levels I would really appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks!!

IMHO.simply put, the necro soloes faster and more reliably than the sk. But I still love both my sk and necro. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<p> stick with the toon you like to play, necro soloing is different from sk soloing.. so it's about what you have fun doing tanking mobs or having your pet tank them SK's arent that far behind necros in soloing content matter of fact i konw sk that can solo lvl 70 ^^^ effortlesly clearing nest and other instances as well..  the biggest advantege that necros have over sk is invis and 100% fd that last 5 min and can be recasted.</p>

<p>Silverwraith!!!! Hiya man....good to see you on these forums.</p><p> If some of the info you mention, is what you got from me, I did state we are not gear dependent, but I do not feel we are cheaper by any means.  Not sure on other high level classes, but I know Necro spells cost a bundle.  It is not uncommon on our server for a high level necro pet spell to sell for over 80 plat.</p><p>Like I said last night, necro class may be a bit of delayed gratification compared to some other classes that may be more fun right out of the gate.  I think you need to have a little love for the class to pull you through some of the early frustrations, but I forgot about some of that stuff.</p><p>May see you on tonight....will not be on until around 11pacific, but plan to play for a while.</p><p>Seeya</p>

<p>Also, something I just thought of that may help you.</p><p>On different board, I posted a complete diary of my Necro from level 35 to 70.</p><p>It may give you a good insight as to what you are in for if you stick with your nec.</p><p>I have just recently stopped logging my adventures, but you can still view the entire diary here:</p><p><a rel="nofollow" href="http://eq2.eqsummoners.com/viewforum.php?f=4&sid=924e25a33d2b0803965b103b2944e73e" target="_blank">http://eq2.eqsummoners.com/viewforu...65b103b2944e73e</a> called Necromantic Journal</p><p>It is a long read, but may help you decide.</p>

<p>I believe that SK's have the potential to solo the Nest. All their lifetaps (6 I believe) provide a tremendous amount of healing. I believe you only get one powertap in T6, but it's a good one. I am going to level an SK for this very reason. If your friend loves his necro, but dogs his SK, it's possible he hasnt explored it's true potential. As an example, I never would have thought my warlock could solo the nest in an hour, but it turned out to be possible so long as you do your research, cater to your strengths and be aware of your weaknesses. </p><p>In the case of the SK, I would put together INT based gear, ignore the STR aspects and STR gear, and get as much power procing gear and power restoration gear as possible. Above all, get as many AAs as you can. They make the impossible possible.</p>

It helps not to go oop too fast if you conserve power, and it procs reaver, bu tother than that... <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" />that beings aid, sks are solid soloers. They do about as well on any kind of mob so they arent sensitive in the same way as some other classes are. they are made to take the brunt force of a blow and heal right back up. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
