Hello Ya'll

I'm a real life newbie to EQ II (wife and I started about a month ago), and I have a quick question about how double attack works.

Does every physical attack get a chance of doing a double attack? Or do only Auto attacks double attack? If CA's do double attack, does it do another CA or is the second attack an auto attack?

I've found answers to most of my questions searching on the web, but the mechanics of double attack are eluding me.

Thanks for the help.

Thibore

Double attack is to your auto attack only.

Thanks Loki.

So if its auto attacks only, why does everyone say the stamina line's auto attack gives you a huge boost to your DPS?

My fights usually consist of me going through all my CA's with very few auto attacks. I'm sure I'm missing something in the way combat works. =b

Thibore

Physically count Auto attack in ur combat logs over a 3 min fight, you will be suprised. then add +60% more swings to that. Stamina line is the single largest increase in DPS for a AP line or combat ability.

The STA line works best if you have a slow delay weapon with a large dmg spread and you can haste it, since haste does not reduce the damage of the autoattack.

If you are lower level, slow / big dmg spread weapons are pretty much non existant. As are haste items and + DPS items.

So, if you want better DPS, I would recommend a line that does not depend on those factors for max DPS.

Depending on the number of AAs you have to spend, I would prolly go AGI for the multi-mob autoattack chance, then STR for crits, then INT for accel strike.

Look at some of the AA builds posted in these threads, but I think you will like that a lot more until you can get something comparable to a 2.5 delay weapon and some haste items.

Thanks for the replies guys.I'm lvl 23 with 22 AA's. I respeced to Stamina 4 4 8 5 a couple days ago (was full on str. before that). My wife and I turned off our combat exp at about level 10 and have really been enjoying ourselves. I'll read up on the other AA's and decide which is best to level up on. Unfortunaly, most of the AA build information out there right now is for raiding / end game grouping. There really isn't a whole lot of info for the newbie...makes it a bit more exciting i suppose. Think I'll see if I can find a good damage parser and start running some experiments myself. Thanks againThibore

ACT is the parser that seems to be universally used by everyone.

Here's the link:

http://home.maine.rr.com/eqaditu/ACT/
