I have not played EQ2 in over a year. I have a level 18 monk with only 4 AA points. I saw a post earlier with someone saying that they have 20 AAs on their level 22 monk. Should I start a new monk and level him up just on quests to maximize AAs? Will AAs come naturally to me or is it something I will really have to work on to get? Thoughts? (It may be neat to start fresh but if I am not going to gain much, why bother?)

Don't bother restarting. You should view AAs as a bonus. They'll come naturally. You get AA XP for lots of things, like finding items, killing named creatures, completing quests, and discovering new areas as you explore. It's not uncommon to get 3 or 4 of them in a night of good questing or hunting. On PVP servers some people will disable adventure XP until they max out AA points, but it's certainly not necessary.

A quick way to up your AAs, is to turn off your combat XP, and do the questlines that each zone has. Eq2i has a listing of those lines, and if you do 2 zones worth per tier, (antonica & Greater Faydar, Darklight wood & Commonlands, etc) you should gain a fairly decent amount of AA xp from the quests, as well as XP for the quests themselves. I am currently lvling up an SK alt, and at lvl 18, I have 13 AA. I turned off my combat XP at 15, and don't plan on turning it back on til I hit the cap for AA vs lvl.

What is the cap of AA vs. level?

I thought that they put in a cap to how many AAs you could have vs your current lvl, something like max AAs = 1.5 * lvl. Looking over the update notes (back to LU #34) I can't seem to find it, so they may have not put it in, for which I appologize.
