Hail and well met all,

I dinged Lv 65 last night and quickly scribed my CoS spell.

Now I've read it's situational. I've read it sucks. I've read it's useless... etc. etc. etc...

However, I've also read that it's a very visually appealing spell... and DANG do I agree with that

But... am I mistaken... was I seeing things... or once cast did this spell consistently cause a casting progress bar to appear when it "proc'd" preventing me from casting my own spells?

I only had the chance to use it twice last night... and I think it darn near got me killed because I kept trying to cast my HoT and couldn't because there was a casting progress bar for... Storm Bolt I think it was called?

Is this how this spell works? If so why, WHY would SOE give us a spell that prevents us from casting? Why can't it just "proc" like RoF does? Never mind... it's SOE... I think I answered my own question

So... was I imagining this? If this is how it works it's not going to see much use at all for me... not unless I open with Hibernation and my HoT.

Other than that though... it is a really, REALLY cool looking spell... I'll just have to use it on greens from now on, LOL.

Take care.

Reading the spell description will give you a hint on why you cannot cast anything while CoS is up And i agree, this makes it even more situational than it already would be without the stun

Aye, I read that... but I'm SURE, (though I could certainly be mistaken), that I was able to cast things in between casts of "Storm Bolt."

And I am quite sure I was auto-attacking as well...

<scratches his head> I mean... I was... wasn't I? I'm sure I was...

<wanders off muttering to himself>

even at master I from what I've seen it gets resisted way to easy... and the AA for it doesn't help from what I see... still get resisted and just doesn't last as long waste of points

Just to make sure it wasn't some issue with some graphical option i once even tried to cast the spell on extreme quality in SS, but still nothing. Anyone else having this problem?

Well at least its not as [Removed for Content] as it used to be I mean when kos launched me and quite some other furies were sending in lots of posts to the devs about this spell and they made it better or less [Removed for Content].

It has some uses I know I had fun duoing with our guilds mt in barrensky with him rounding up all mobs (seperate encounters) on the island into my ring of fire and then blast them with cos.

But indeed Ive said this since the beginning if defile doesnt stun the defiler cos shouldnt stun the fury or they should add some beneficial effect to cos like with every mob that gets hit the grp or the caster gets some power back or some kind of spellhaste for the grp or whatever.

IMHO, this is THE most visually appealing spell effect I've seen in EQ2. I was very dissapointed to find that the dps of it is so low that it's just not a valid option for either PvP or PvE.

I think the Devs should lower the dps and remove the stun ... otherwise they're just wasting the most beautiful spell art in the game. When the Devs re-work the spells for RoK, I sincerely hope they make this one a viable option; because at the moment it's just not a viable option for anything. It's not situational, it's just plain not worth a spot on any hotbar.

I do agree, this is one of the most visually appealing spells I have seen. I use it rarely, but when I do use it, I make sure there is another healer in the group and let everyone know I am stunned for 23 sec. I also cast an HoT and hibernation prior to activating this spell for the just in case situations.

Waste of a hotbar space imo.

V pretty but since when did raid mobs say "whooo look at that spell effect" and keel over.

It's absolutely not useless - I use it all the time. Not during every fight, but if I've got healing under control, I'll go ahead an pop CoS. I like it - not only a gorgeous spell to watch, but a powerful one, too. It's inconvenient that we're stunned the whole time, but absolutely it's NOT useless. Just not useful for every fight. Depends on what you're doing and how you play, I suppose.

I too think it's a waste of Hotbar space, visually appealing, and rarely used unless I'm farming greens, but even they can resist it. I throw it in raids once in awhile to draw aggro when the mt loses but rare, rare, rare. The DEV's should have actually gave us a spell that does damage instead of just pi$$ing mobs off.

1) Hit yourself or group with HoT

2) Kick off Vortex

3) Ignite a Ring of Fire

4) Call Storms

5) Heal yourself

Rinse & Repeat as needed for kill or your own entertainment.

I use ring of fire and call of storms together alot too. No way is it a useless spell. Ya just gotta know where and how to use it. I will throw down a ring of fire, do a group regen, then my deaggro spell, then pop call of storms. If they do hit me while i'm stunned, the regen keeps me up. 99% of the time I live to tell the tale. I do this in my regular group and they love it...well all except the framerate hit lol. This is definitely not a raid spell but if used right, the destruction you will cause from the RoF/CoS combo will bring a tear to your eye heh

I use it in a similar manner. I sometimes go to Barren Sky for solo Loot gathering runs on Aversion or Awakening near the Bonemire port. I'll gather up a half dozen or so 67 and 68 lvl Droags, throw up RoF start my single and group HoT's and Hibernation then hit CoS. Sit back and watch them fall. I have a 35% spell crit rate plus 3 damage shields (Master spineskin, spiked shoulder, and spiked strut on Bulwark of the Brave). If I get some adds I heal up after CoS ends and throw up urchin. It may not sound like much but I really like the restorative stitching adornment I have on my gloves. The extra 40 pts per spell adds up nicely.

I love my Fury!

I use it a lot on my fury too. Load up the group HoT, Single Target HoT, Hibernation and cast CoS!

Every time I ever tried to use CoS my group started taking damage just after I cast it. Plus I have my regen timers reduced through the agility line, so it just never pans out for me. Deleted it from my hotbar long ago It was fun though for that room in Halls of Fate with all the tiny drakes.

Now you'll be able to throw down the fire carpet, cast ball lightning, then call of storms. The damage should be pretty fierce for the most part.
